Just to illuminate how close the competition in the SEC West appears to be this year, as has been noted in so many threads during SEC MD 15, I am asking everyone interested to predict their order of finish even before August Training Camps begin.

I am curious to see just how many TexAgs followers / subscribers will be able to predict the actual finish of the teams from 1-7 at the time of SEC MD 15. (add each team's predicted record if you like).

My SEC West prediction:

1. A&M (7-1)
2. Auburn (6-2)
3. Alabama (5-3)
4. LSU (5-3)
5. Ark (4-4)
6. Ole Miss (3-5)
7. Miss State (2-6)


I am just not a believer in the Ark / Ole Miss / Miss St triumvirate. I think they slip back to their generally historical spots by the final week of November. We can make a similar prediction after Camps and in the week leading up to the start of Football on Labor Day Weekend to see how opinions have or have not changed.

They talk about the west beating each other up every year, but I think it actually happens this time. The winner will be 6-2 and win courtesy of a tiebreaker between A&M and Alabama followed by Arkansas, Auburn, and LSU.

Just curious who you think we loose to?

Tough to say exactly who we lose to but I think we split the Bama / Auburn games @ home (our only home loss of the season).

LSU will take a big step back without Chavis. They have been getting by with great D and no QB for years. I have them finishing 6th in the west.

I may have janked up some overall win/loss totals with an overall SEC West SEC record of 30-26 but I guess I'll chalk that up to the West>East.

I agree with Tripacer that we see the West finally beat itself up enough to see a 2 loss division champ. I can actually see a slim possibility of us being one of those 2 loss teams, but even with a pretty favorable schedule I think it's going to be really tough to see a team with this much important youth getting through with less than 2 losses in conference play.

This list is in no way biased.

While I think the talking heads are wron when thwy say we finish close to last, there would have to be miracles performed for us to go 7-1.

I think we finish third. Bama on top. I do think LSU will finish close to last.

I think we surprise folks, especially with our East match ups, and go 6-2. Whether that is good enough to win the division, who knows. Probably not if those two losses are against the west.

I think that you can make a case that ANY of the 7 teams could win the thing. The only thing I take issue with is the love-fest for Auburn. That's a team that we beat, on the road, last year. We have beaten them two of three, and the one they got they wouldn't have gotten if it were not for the refs swallowing their whistle on the obvious Manzel horse collar. We have been the better team overall for the past three years. That, and they have essentially the same strengths/weaknesses coming into the season.

If they really are good enough to win the league, we should be considered more highly as well by all logic.

Of course it is not. But it indicates perhaps we have been better them, so our starting point should be even or better than them. Our weaknesses are the same, defense. We both hired great new defensive coaches, but I think we have more star power on defense to work with. Our offenses are similar, and I think we have more on paper than they do on the offensive side anyway, as well. I think anyone giving it a reasonable and complete analysis should conclude that we ought to be ahead of Auburn head to head. Wether that means you put is 1-2 or 6-7 is debatable, but I just think we have to be put one step ahead of them.

I find when the zoo thinks we will have a winning season and the media thinks we wont the media is right 4/5 times.
