Notes from Cedric Ogbuehi interview

* Excited about the upcoming draft. It has been a long process with lots of adversity, but as the draft gets closer he’s getting more anxious to see where he goes and to start the next phase of his life.

* At first he was going to stay home for the draft, but his family thought it would be a great experience. He will fly out Tuesday and go to all the events until Thursday night.

* Expects to go in the first round, but knows there is an excuse for going second. He knows anything can happen, but he feels blessed for the opportunity.

* Has brushed up on his interview skills and knows that he needs to sell himself and show them that he is the best player in the draft.

* Teams love his ceiling and know that he has potential. Has had meetings with ten teams and they all went very well.

* There are a lot of tackles in this class, but he believes he’s the best. ACL injuries aren’t as big of a problem as they used to be as he’ll be back by training camp.

* Didn’t talk to any scouts last year, but felt like he was in a similar first round position as he is now. Most teams had him at left tackle but he had played right tackle since high school. He wanted to show that he could play all four positions and thinks that in the long run it was a good decision.

* Is about three and a half months away from being back but is shooting to be ready for football by training camp.

* Took one day to feel sorry for himself after the injury and knew he was going to drop a bit in the draft, but everything happens for a reason. He thought he sprained his ACL, but two weeks after it happened he went to California and found out that it was torn.

* To him, the turning point in 2012 was the Ole Miss game. The Mike Evans play was the entire season. Even they thought it was over, you just don’t convert third and 20 from the half-yard line. From there on, they felt like they could do it.

* On the Alabama play, he had no idea what happened. He felt something hit him, but didn’t know the extent of it until he saw it later. He saw Johnny roll around and throw a touchdown. It wasn’t that shocking, because we had seen him do it all year. That was his Heisman moment and a special game.

* The 2012 offensive line pushed each other. Patrick Lewis was the leader of the group and everyone listened to him. Seeing some of their success, it makes it really cool to look back on that season. They’re all still close and text often.

* In high school, Texas was the school sending people in the first round. They didn’t offer him and A&M did and have turned it around in the last few years. With so many first rounders in the last few years, it has made the decision for current recruits an obvious one.

* Jake Matthews and Luke Joeckel have told him that it’s going to be a tough transition to the NFL, but have given him advice on how to prepare for the next level.

* He’s seen A&M practice twice this spring and thinks they are in a great place. They are playing with attitude and the defense is looking better. He thinks next year is going to be a fun one to watch.

* The QB competition will be a good battle, but Kyle is a born leader. From day one, he has been vocal and confident. Nobody knows what will happen, but Kyle did some great things last year.

* His time at A&M was the best five years of his life and he is glad to be an Aggie.

Good bull! True class act. Slipping a bit in the draft might be a good thing...perhaps he get's picked up by a Championship contender instead of one of the 4 horsemen of death (aka Oakland, Cleveland, Buffalo, Dallas). Yes, I said Dallas. I've been a Cowboy fan since the day I was born (80s) but the glory days are long gone.
