It's basically a couple weeks of partying every night (so anyone who actually studies is automatically out) and whoever shows up and passes the Good Ol Boy popularity test gets selected. Every now and then they get one right (David Benac my senior yr comes to mind) but more often than not it's just some Good Ol Boy idiot who's trying to get laid. My junior year they picked someone who had a DUI or some other alcohol arrest on his record. It came out in the Batt and they had to replace him last second. Ridiculous.

First, even though I am glad Cook lost the yell leader election, I have nothing against him as a person. I forgive him and wish him well.

However, there is something that really bothers me about how people are defending Kyle Cook. We hear about how he's such a great person. I am not debating that fact. However, I have not heard one thing that makes Kyle Cook look positive. Did Kyle Cook get involved with a charity? Did he perform community service? What kind of community service does he perform?

For those who say that Kyle Cook shouldn't be defined by one picture from a few years ago, than what kind of positive actions should we define him with?

This is where Kyle Cook & 5 for Yell ultimately failed. Instead of addressing the offensive Bonfire pictures, they hid from them until after the 1st vote. Had Kyle Cook apologized during the election and addressed the issue, he could have found a way to control the story and paint a positive picture of himself. He could have shown how he has grown past that and how he has given to the university since then, As a matter of fact, I never heard a single story about something positive Kyle has done. I'm sure there are plenty of positive things he has done, but those stories never came out.

It is PC for conservatives.

Kyle is a good guy. However, forgiving a guy for actions doesn't absolve consequences. He shouldn't have been a yell leader. Too public of an image to get past the Bonfire issue. The elections were done properly, FINALLY, and will be done properly moving forward. If you think yell leaders are dumb, whatever, but they exist and they come from a student vote. It's a self serving position, but it's not just self serving. I know plenty of guys that ran for yell leader, win and lose. Sorry that this debate has turned into bashing Kyle Cook, but the revote was done by the senior yell leaders that have ZERO investment in the elected yell leaders, corps or non-reg.

I can't believe some of the people on here believe Kyle should be a major face of Aggieland!

That would be humiliating to me. I hope it would be the same to every Aggie.

I have no problem with A&M having yell leaders. It's a solid tradition, but there are certain things I would change to make them seem less weird/stupid to Aggies and non-Aggies alike:

- Stop doing whatever is going on in the pics posted above in this thread.
- Junior yell leaders - start doing real push-ups instead of having what appears to be an epileptic fit.
- Remove the names from the overalls, guys. You look like you're in a boy band.
- Destroy the yell leader statue and try again.

Yell leaders. Please get rid of them.
