I think I figured out where some of the frisco hate was coming from because it really got ramped up a couple weeks ago.

Yeah right. The students made a good choice. And for you CTs that think you need to fight for your buddy.... It's an election. It's not combat.

For those of us not in the know, please explain something. Wasn't there an election a week or two ago that yielded different results? Was there a re-vote or something or was that like a primary and this was the general election?

I seem to be out of the loop here, can someone give a quick recap of what happened with the election that made it so strange?

My friends that are CTs didn't want Cook to win it.

It blows my mind that he even got selected to 5 for Yell

I don't care if they are CTs or nonregs, but Cook should have excused himself from running for such a visible representative of our University. Not after being a part of such a disrespectful display of one of our most beloved memorials.

here's a recap:

Summer of 2013- Kyle Cook and his fish camp took part in a series of offensive photos at the Bonfire memorial

Sometime before the 2015 elections- Kyle Cook is nominated as part of the 5 for Yell block

-SGA Election commission uses an "instant runoff" election system in which students rank their votes. Votes are given a value based off of how students are ranked

Right after the election results-

-Steven Lanz (nonreg) elected yell leader with most vote points. Ben Ritchie (current yell leader) is not elected. However, the campaign manager of 5 for yell challenges the legitimacy of the votes because of how only certain votes were counted which is believed to be the 1st place votes.

-Kyle Cook issues public apology for offensive Bonfire pictures claiming he wanted to do it after the election in order to make it more "sincere" and less forced.

Last week-

All yell leader candidates agree that a runoff is necessary. Yell leaders point to how the SGA Election Commission's "instant runoff" system was in direct violation of the yell leader constitution. The revote is run in accordance to the yell leader constitution where students would choose 2 Jr. yell leader candidates and 3 Sr. yell leader candidates with all votes being equal.

Today:

Justice is served. Kyle Cook loses yell leader election.

Also, if you think the yell leader elections were entertaining, just look at the SBP elections. It looks like something out of House of Cards.
