He didn't look great in those preseason games. And the Browns saw the whole "movie", everyday in practice and thought he looked worse than Brian Hoyer basically all year.

Lets say he would have played amazing for 6 quarters and then got hurt...you wouldn't be saying "no way to tell if he is that great by only 6 quarters".

Pretty sure everyone would reserve judgment regardless of how he played if it was only 6 qtrs. If he would've played well, everyone would be more optimistic, but I doubt any half way realistic person anoints him a HOFer.

Not even the same thing. There is 23 QBs in the NFL HOF from the modern era.

There has been HUNDREDS of NFL QB busts. It is much more likely he is a bust than a HOF. But yea he will have next year to prove himself; unfortunately I think it will be his last chance.

They went with the more experienced qb to start the season. Johnny definitely looked better in preseason than Hoyer. And if he had played lights out for 6 quarters, I absolutely would have said don't jump the gun. Look at Kirk cousins this year (first game) or any other backup that comes in. Weeden looked great through 2 quarters for the cowboys, only to suck ass the next game. A small sample size doesn't tell you anything, one way or the other.

Doesn't matter... He went to Cleveland. That franchise could make Peyton look like a drunk monkey trying to literally f himself. And now they are going to do the same to mariota? That's where QBs go to die.

I hope Johnny gets out of Cleveland soon.

Just not a good question with so little playing time and an O-line clearly messed up after injury to their All-Pro center (which is why Hoyer went totally sour for the 2nd half of the season).

Nobody mentions the prior week where Hoyer stunk up 3/4's the game against Buffalo and Johnny came in to play pretty well. Cincy was loaded for bear on JFF's start. Jeremy Hill was gashing the Browns D. Cincy got a quick early lead and Cleveland gave up. Small sample sizes don't mean anything. I'd rather have Johnny on my team than any of the other 2014 rookie QB's. Especially with the chip he has on his shoulder now.

How dare you know what you're talking about on texags!! It doesn't matter that the whole offense fell apart when the center got injured weeks before Johnny ever went in.

You either have to bag on Johnny for everything he does or else blindly support him because you're being willfully blind to his obvious ticking time bomb of immaturity. Those are the texags rules regarding Johnny.

Also, you left out that Johnny didn't get to start until the first playoff hopes the franchise had sniffed in years had already been already crushed, leaving the team demoralized with nothing left to play for.
