Option #1: We never join the SEC. Johnny starts in 2012 and we probably go the National Championship game. He never has a Heisman moment (vs. Bama in Tuscaloosa), so Manti wins the Heisman. We don't get the recruits we would have being in the SEC, but Johnny stays and plays out his full eligibility. And as a fanbase we get to watch the most exciting player in school history and possibly EVER for an additional 2 years, and have a chance to win the Big 12 a couple more times and POSSIBLY a Heisman for Johnny. BUT, we don't have the "SEC Money" to redevelop Kyle Field like we have been able to do, so the "Old" Kyle Field remains. Although Johnny gets all of his partying out of the way in CS (grows up in the extra 2 years) and gets drafted by your favorite NFL team and becomes a star in the NFL for YOUR team.

Option #2: What has already happened. Move to the SEC, beat Bama, JFF wins the Heisman. We get multiple top 10 recruiting classes. New Kyle Field. We are cheated out of 2 more years of watching JFF play and dominate college football. Johnny gets drafted by the Browns and has a disastrous rookie season (granted only in 1.5 games).
But, as A&M fans, we witness the greatest player to ever wear an A&M uniform, and the best result (in 2012) we have is a tie for 5th place (with South Carolina) in the SEC, and 3rd in our division behind Bama and LSU.

Which option do you prefer?

Option #3. The early success in the SEC eventually parlays to multiple SEC Championships and multiple National Championship, staking our claim as running the state.

What's your problem man? It's the offseason. Is it so egregious to throw out some hypotheticals? I'm just trying to see what the majority of Aggie fans would prefer. I'm a Cowboys fan. I hate the old "Jerry Jones" hype and flash, and celebration of mediocrity.

I would prefer to WIN. Win conference championships, have the opportunity to win National championships. In the past 3 years, we haven't even gone to a BCS bowl. Our home record is pathetic (like the Cowboys). We have a nice new stadium will be one of the greatest in college football (as is Jerry World in the NFL). You wanna go sit in that nice new stadium and watch us lose?

2) He does and the odds are we're on serious probation for a bunch of years.

In examining part of Option #1: If A&M doesn't move to the SEC in 2012, we might have gone undefeated in the BDF, but then Alabama does not lose in the regular season. There is no way an undefeated BDF team ranks higher than an undefeated Alabama and an undefeated Notre Dame. Alabama still wins the Natty, they just go into the BCS Championship Game ranked #1 with Notre Dame ranked #2.

How about throwing out hypotheticals that involve things that COULD happen someday, not things that are past history? Those are way more interesting than rehashing old news.

1. If TAMU plays for the national title in 2012, why wouldn't Johnny get the Heisman? RG3 won the Heisman in 2011 and Baylor didn't even win the conference.
2. If TAMU plays in the national title + Johnny, why wouldn't it get a boost in recruiting?
3. If TAMU plays in the national title in 2012, they play Alabama. A team you guys actually beat in 2012 at Alabama.

Why doesn't this scenario include TAMU beating Alabama in the national title game + Johnny winning the Heisman? What'd I miss?

IF we don't SECeed, would we have fired Sherman?

Maybe, maybe not. Sherman was starting to get better talent in. Sherman had us competing with BDF programs his last 2 years, we just choked a bunch in 2011.

So if Sherman stays, does JFF play in 2012? Showers goes into the season as the starter. Maybe JFF takes his job, maybe Showers does enough to keep it for a season or more

Option 5: We switch to the wishbone and run a triple option, Kohl Stewart turns down MLB contract, beats out JFF and takes us to the MNC. JFF plays tailback and scores the winning touchdown on a halfback pass to Thomas Johnson

This old army wishes people would lay off JFF. So what if he's not an NFL caliber QB. He was great for us and brought a lot of notoriety and street cred to us. Getting Drake and Snoop on board really helped with recruiting. Now it's time to move on! Maybe put a statue of him next to the 12th man or something, he's earned it!
