You're right. This is overwhelming evidence that 3 star players are infinitely better than 5 stars. Might as well not even recruit them

But all four of this year's college playoff teams were littered with elite recruits. Since we're recruiting guys to play college football, that would seem much more relevant.

There aren't that many 5 stars to start. 5 stars in college that pan out tend to be highly drafted to crappy teams.

Five star recruits rarely have a chip on their shoulder. I would guess that "chip" from lower ranked recruits turns out in a motivation factor...a la 6th round Tuom Frickin Braaady.

BINGO. There's far more 3-star players than 4-star players and there's far more 4-star players than 5-star players. You're never going to field a team with a bunch of 5-star players because the handful of 5-star players each year get drafted by the crappiest teams.

Florida, alabama, Florida state, auburn, texas, Oklahoma, Ohio state, usc, Michigan, notre dame
