The play that the rookie made to seal the game looked very similar to Everret's pick vs. Bama. Both attributed it to watching film and knowing what they might see from the other team. Is this good coaching or is it more of an instinct developed from being around the game? I played HS football as a lineman and was more concerned about blocking the man in front of me. How much does film study really help during the game? I played off of instinct more than I did film study. Maybe that's why I didn't get a scholarship to play football in college...thoughts...

He also said that their scout team ran that play against him in practice leading up to the game and he got burned on it so Belichek got in his ear. Video preparation is important but no more so than coaching, and instincts.

his instinct may have been to cover the receiver which is almost impossible in that situation.
Coaching probably led him to cheat the route and make a play.
