Where will A&M, TCU, and BU football and academics be in 10 years? I just don't see TCU and BU having the resources to compete. They have been going downhill (in terms of resources) for years.

Yeah, they jumped up for a flash-in-the-pan but for the long haul ----------?

I hate to say this, but they're private so their academics will probably be better off long-term. We haven't exactly been improving in the last few years, at least in our rankings.

I don't care about baylor but TCU has been improving greatly academically, and they have plenty of money. Tcu has imoroved 37 spots on us news and world reports since 2008.

We might have fallen, but I think Texas is pretty stable, and other public schools (UTD, for example) are still rising.

Baylor and TCU are no where close to A&M.

Both tu and A&M have fallen outside the top 50. t.u is at 53. Ags at 68. Baylor 71. TCU 76. I'd say you're wrong based off this ranking from US News & World Report.

In 10 years
Football - we'll all wish our teams were as strong as Rice.
Academics - we'll all wish our teams performed as well as Tceh.

Suddenly,
1) our oil wells strike a gusher of unicorn blood and everything changes......
2) our genetics lab introduces a set of identical 12 year old quintuplets that look a lot like Johnny.
..... they commit to A&M
the apocalypse ends ahead of schedule and again WRTS

I really don't see the relevance of that question. I have three daughters....B.S. and M.S. degrees from Texas Tech, TCU, and SMU. All of them are kicking ass.

My second boss retired as a multi millionaire at the age of 38....and he graduated from Sam Houston.

This concept that graduating from A&M puts you ahead of graduating from TCU or Baylor doesn't hold water. It's more about what you do with that degree. All imo

We only hire Aggies where I work. No purple or green Baylor hires. So there's that.

Exactly. What you do with a degree is more important, in most cases, than where it came from. Obviously, an online degree is virtually worthless, but a degree from almost any four year school gives you the opportunity to succeed. Whether you succeed or not is up to the graduate. Put the maroon or orange colored glasses down for a second and you can see A&M and UT are heading in the direction of becoming diploma mills (and unfortunately with an increasing number of foreign students). It's all about how many students can they get enrolled and then how fast can they get them out, while continuing to jack up the costs.

Very true, but the 38 yo multimillionaires are exceptions even among Harvard grads...but what puts you ahead at a higher ranked school is more opportunities. You can find opportunities at Sam, or squander them at Harvard or TAMU. But your odds of having a Mark Zuckerberg as a room mate are higher at different schools.
