Do all the players show up together?
Do they just drive up, park and knock on Sumlin's door?
Do they all get driven around in a bus together or are they all visited with separately?

Could not find anything on Google and I am bored at work

Fly or limo in. They are assigned a hostess and usually have a set of sponsor players (maybe former teammates from HS or position players they will play next to). Hostess coordinates all activities and is basically their concierge for the weekend. Hostess handles the tours and gets the players to the meetings with the coaches. If its a big enough fish they may get a position coach in addition to a hostess. As far as where they stay they get a hotel room but it is rarely used - usually hang with the players. The football players used to get $100 per-diem to pay for meals that usually goes towards kegs.

{edit: This was the process under Sherman. I do not know if KDS does the same thing or not. I imagine the per diem has gone up since then.}

I think much of oldyella's answer would not fall under the "official process" moniker.

in a nutshell:

unofficial visit - athlete or parents pay for everything

official visit - host school pays for everything

Right, I understand that. I was wondering on a big weekend like this where 10 recruits show up. Is there an itinerary they all follow together?

The visits are scripted. The script will include travel info, arrival times, tour of the locker room times, meals, events like b-ball games, etc. The evenings are probably not so scripted. Parents may be on the visit too - and the university can pay their lodging but not the travel.

I have been on an official recruiting trip as a parent in the fall at A&M, though not for a football athlete. This included an A&M FB game. We had a huge lunch in Bright before the game with athletes in many sports. I remember Dat running around talking to football players and their parents (if present). We were escorted on the field during pre-game warmups. I remember standing near Damontre Moore - who was friggen huge. Then we were escorted to our first deck seats for the game.

Add: before lunch we were in the auditorium and Sherman spoke to the entire group for about 20 minutes. He is a class guy and said great things - especially for parents. I was shocked though that he could do this talk, about two and half hours before kickoff.

You have to be invited by the school, assume that's KDS or the AD's office. I'm understanding a player normally hosts the recruit visiting so have to assume they've made arrangements on how and where to meet. The host player coordinates the visit and gets him "set up" with whatever plans have been made. Perhaps one of the "many" expert coaches that seem to frequent this board can elaborate more fully.

Most important part: Conjugal visit with the hostess.

Also current players or grad assistants are given cash usually $300 or so for taking them out for meals, bar, etc. Yes this happens

The tour of North Gate is one of the highlights...including JFF's favorite watering hole, the Kenny Hill
planter and pointing out where the CSPD is lurking to nab any young suspects of under age drinking, etc.

My Greg Little story: Season before last we had stopped at the Shell station in Calvert on the way to the game. A lady came up to me in the store, with a big kid in tow, and wanted to know if I was going to the game. I told her I was and then I ask the kid if he was a recruit and he said he was. So I got out of him that he was an OL from Allen, but didn't remember his name. Mother wanted to know where they could park. I ask her what the school had told her and she said they were to just show up at Gate ?? at a certain time. Told her I had reserved parking and didn't really know where she should park but probably just go to Post Oak Mall and catch the bus. Very surprised the school didn't give them any help and directions. Of course I had no idea who the kid was at the time. Dang, why didn't I get his autograph!
