On a more positive note than the Sand Flea thread.

I had a great time at the Notre Dame game. We met a 70+ year old former player who gave us personal tour of the campus with some great stories. Everyone there was glad we came to their school and we had a great time.

Big XII championship game against Nebraska. I know this really wasn't an "away" game, but their fans were great, even during a blow out. I was in uniform and was complemented by several Neb fans on the way out about our fans, band and even our team. Lot's of "keep your heads up" comments.

"At Texas, they were laid-back and drinking beers and just chillin', you know, maybe getting up once or twice and cheering for their team. You know how a lot of kids just have a fascination with Texas? I was one of them.
I was young and dumb."

Definitely Nebraska '99. People were going crazy over the Band, taking pictures, talking to us, etc. Some lady gave me a HUGE bag of candy as we were walking back to the bus. I never heard a single derogatory comment yelled aside from "Hurry up!" when we were formed in the endzone. It was a great experience.

Okla St in '98 during the rainstorm. Fun place to hang out prior to the game. Watched Txas beat Neb in Lincoln and all of Eskimo Joes was for Neb. Neat little college atmosphere and everything to do was within walking distance of the stadium.

'97 KSU game. We lost, but their fans were both knowledgable and kind. I liked the atmosphere there and Aggieville was a great bar district for such a small town.

I know I'm a Tech fan and all, but I wanted chime in...

2001- Nebraska. Great fans, great community, night game (wow), great atmosphere...and Tech showed up to play.

If you have the opportunity, you MUST go to Nebraska.

Sugar Bowl vs. Ohio State. (Even though we lost and they play that stupid Snoopy song non-stop)

Their fans travel well and yell for their team and not against the other team. Nothing but 'good game' comments from them and we ended up leaving the SuperDome through the Ohio State side of the stadium.

The best part was the Ohio State fan we met at midnight yell. He met a couple of Aggie coeds at a bar who invited him to yell. He showed up trying to find them and we end up selling him our extra ticket. When he showed up for the game he was wearing a 12th man jersey. He had so much fun at yell and was so impressed with the Aggie fans he switched sides.

AmarilloBQ,

I went to that NU game in '99, watched us choke it up 37-0 even with NU turning the ball over twice early in the game, and then had a blind guy talk trash to me after the game about "how bad our team sucks". The guy didn't even see the game and was just railing on us. It wasn't pretty. I'll put that down as "not my favorite trip".

1987 Baylor game in Waco was good. We had squeaked out the game of the decade the year before, 31-30, and Baylor wanted revenge. Bucky, Darren, and Pavlas put it on them 34-10. My buddy and I scalped tickets and sat in the Baylor alum section. When the War Hymn played after the 3rd quarter, my buddy and I stood up and sang and sawed varsity's, and we were the only two people on that side of the stadium doing so. All of the Baylor fans were yelling at us, but we kept going until the end.

What they did not understand was that we weren't rubbing their noses in it, it's just what we do! I would have done the same if we had been losing.

I really enjoyed my first road trip to Stillwater in 1988. We got our a$$es handed to us by Barry Sanders and Okie State, but the way the OSU fans treated me and my friends was awesome.... On all my return trips there, we've always been treated with class..... that's why I always have a little place in my heart for the Cowboys..... Eskimo Joe's is a must!

LSU 1975
Ags 39, LSU 8

It was the last game in a series of 10 or 15, ALL in Baton Rouge. They usually got the best of us, but this time we ran all over them.

The ND game in 2000. 6 of us made the trip, 5 of us had tickets. The night before the game we were sitting around the lobby of this hotel, and some girl wearing an Aggie shirt heard us talking about the guy w/o a ticket. She took him into the hotel restaraunt to meet and Ol'Ag, who bought him a drink, and gave him a ticket.

My best away game. We had won five straight over the sips. Although, we did not have great year, that win stands out for me because I was there to witness it in Austin.

'98 Big XII Championship in St. Louis, no doubt about it

The best game that I have ever been to. We were very outnumbered by K-State fans.

I remember when they announced Florida State (?) losing, their fans all got excited because they thought they would go to the championship game....

We ended up coming from behind to tie the game, and went into double overtime, winning by a touchdown.

One of the most exciting moments of my entire life. K-State was stunned, and all the Ags were hugging each other. We were all holding on to each other, even though we didn't know each other. I really felt like every Ag there was part of my family.

We went out to eat afterwards - the K-State fans were clearly upset but they were very friendly toward us. Every time we saw someone in a maroon shirt, as soon as we made eye contract we would each just break out into a huge grin.

Don't you know all of the Toombs fans would've loved to see Big George that night. When he hit the line it would seem to sag for a moment... then George would spit out the back side of the pack and out run their secondary. It was a great trip!

Rock, I saw a blind nu fan at the game, too. I couldn't tell if was all the beer they kept bringing him or what but he seemed blind to me. He never shut his mount the whole game. The whole experience was surreal.

One time, I went to Virginia Tech, and they were the loudest, bestest, coolest fans ever. Then I went to an LSU game, and they were even louder and cooler and better than the Virginia Tech fans... but both schools had better fans than Texas A&M because we don't always fill up the stadium and stand up and yell all the time.

I have been to a lot of road games, and without a doubt, the big 12 championship in 1998 wins. St. Louis is a fun town. Gambling, bars, and winning the title made it one memorable trip. I don't know if Cahokia was more fun than the game, but if it wasn't, it was damn close.

The best away game experience I had, by far, was the '94 tu game in austin. The group I was with had a difficult time getting there. We had a flat on our camper, but got it fixed (good story too) and finally got into a KOA around 11pm. We all loaded up and went to midnight yell at the capital building only to have the heavens open up on us right when we got to the building. We were like, "Oh well..we're soaked and were looking at a decent walk back to the car". We just continued on and walked around to the front. Man, it was awesome. There were hundreds of Aggies going crazy in a monsoon rain. Most of the sips that were there took off when it started pouring down. When yell was over the rain stopped..oh well. The game itself was great as we beat the hell outta tu..34-10. Leeland Mc had a great game. One play that I remember was when james brown got sacked. As he was hit, he threw the ball up in the air. One of our D-Line, Brandon Mitchell I think, happened to be in the right place at the right time..he caught the ball and rumbled all the way for a TD. It was great!!! After the game, we walked across the field to a corner exit by the scoreboard. They had bevo in a trailer with one sip watching him. An Aggie jumped up on the trailer and started auctioning the beef off. It was hilarious. The sip didn't do anything, but mumble what I'm sure were "nice" comments. That night we went to 6th street and had some fun and enjoyed the win.

I agree it was the Sugar Bowl vs. Ohio State in New Orleans. It was a fun game and the town is great. They really opened up the town to us. Everything was aggie or buckeye. Ohio State people were great fans and all the ones we met got along with all the aggie fans. The Ohio State people had to stay extra nights because their local airport was snowed in. We ended up hanging out with a couple of different groups for those nights.

Only downside is that I still can't even look at a daquiri without getting a little sick.

Texas Tech @ Texas A&M last year.

So many Ags came up to me congratulating us on a well fought game. I felt really bad considering the way our fans treated you in '01. I'm from College Station and went to A&M games for most of my life, so I knew how to act at the games. Unforunatley for the traveling ags, I'll be up in the press box for this game, so that's 1 less good Raider in the stands. That's not to say that I would have prevented a melee, but for sure, that's 1 less level-headed Raider. If I see some ags on the way out, I'll be sure to return the favor and tell them good game. I hope you all have a good showing next week despite the conditions.

LSU in 1994 was a great experience. We went to the game needing two extra tickets for our group and some guy just gave them to us. We had a great time staying in New Orleans for the long weekend (Labor Day weekend). The tailgaters were some serious folks.

I didn't experience any venom, but I could tell that the crowd could be volitile if pushed. I just yelled for my team and enjoyed the win.

Alamo Bowl '95- vs. Michigan
We beat Griese and Biakabatuka (sp?) WOW!!

tu '94- after the hide tanning we saw some disgruntled students that had their chests painted. They spelled out "GOAT SEX". Best I can figure they were out of order and supposed to spell "GO TEXAS", but it's better the first way.
