I agree the last couple of weeks have been bad, and the season was disappointing. But he sure has done more in terms of recruiting and wins on the field than any Aggie coach in a long time. I think his body of work deserves some respect.
I respect the hell out of Kevin Sumlin.

But he needs this off-season to get here so he can- as he said he needed to do this past summer at a press conference- "hit the reset button" again.

The changes being made are to improve those same areas that currently aren't giving you warm and fuzzies.
And without the recruiting, we don't have a snowballs chance in Hades of being competitive in SEC W.
Most of our frustration comes from a lack of awareness of where we really were as a program overall. And while we still have a long ways to go, we have made progress, comparatively speaking.

I know why we're making changes.

Like I said, it doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies that we're in a position that we feel the need to make changes.

Recruiting is the lifeblood of any program in any conference. Its great, but recruiting is only a means to an end.

Lack of awareness that we're blending in with the not-Alabama teams of the SEC West? I'm aware we've "fit in" alright with the SEC.

But I'm not going to settle for 13-11 conference football from here on out. That's not my goal for this program, and I'm sure its not your's either.

Our recruiting will give us a chance to compete, but as you just said, its only a baseline requirement in this division. Everyone in this division looks at their recruiting and thinks it gives them a chance to compete. You win because you get the rest of it right. I'm far from giving up on Sumlin, I think he's capable of getting us where we want to be. I hope these new hires are the right hires. We need them to be.

We agree then.
Awareness comment refers to the delusion of many about where we were 3 years ago...then 6 years ago....and the fact that we're still not close to "being there" at all, and we're not gonna "be there" for still a few years more to come.
The road is a helluva lot longer than anybody seems to want to acknowledge. It's not like we're gonna be able to make the right hires and then have a light switch effect, going from being mediocre to great.

I should feel good about where we are relative to our past?

Looking back beyond our W/L slide under Sumlin, yeah, we've made some progress.

So does the rest of this division. You think Arkansas feels good comparatively speaking to their 0-8 season? I do. You think Ole Miss feels good comparatively speaking to their 1-15 run in the SEC? I do. You think Mississippi State feels good comparatively speaking? I do.

The only program that probably doesn't feel good comparatively speaking is Alabama, because they have nowhere to go but down. Maybe LSU, but I'm sure LSU still feels good about life.

We've conveniently walked into the best division of football during its possible "golden era", and that's not Sumlin's fault, but I'm not about to advocate giving Sumlin and his team any participation medals.

Trajectory for the program overall is still moving upward.....true/false?
If true, then we agree, move on. The rest is just rhetoric

I think we've stalled out.

I'm hopeful we can get a good jump start headed towards next season.

I can see that thought. Personally I blame a lot of the perceived "stall" mostly on personnel/depth chart turnover, combined w some injuries, some knuckleheads getting booted, plus some attrition.

Biggest concern/confusion on my end was the O line. I can see/justify why Snyder struggled, but Anderson's group should have been dominant yet they ended up being far from it.
