Who cares about 20+ years ago.........the players today talk about how death valley is roughest place to play. It's nice to think about well back in my day...........but now it means nothing.

Defense!!!! We need to get one.

Fans that don't leave at the start of the 4th quarter because "oh Lawd I have to drive a couple of hours to get home and there's no reason to stick around": we need them.

Aggies have become fickle and pathetic when we are backed into a corner. Grow a pair and yell at the game or give your ticket to someone who is actually going to make noise and not bail early.

Actually, there were a LOT of empty seats this year in Death Valley when Miss St beat the Tigers.

Fans stay and yell when there is something to stay and yell for, in any stadium.

Even with less fans after a bunch left, they still made more noise than Miss St. at least. Our stadium empties and becomes a library on one side...

It's because the kids attending today are mostly pampered, entitled momma's boys who only talk about the tradition but don't have the fortitude and grit to see it through.

New Army doesn't understand when I say that the '91 squad may have been the best team in the modern era. But that's how they played defense. And that's how our fans reacted to it. In the Cotton Bowl we turned it over 8 times and allowed 10 points.

True, it means nothing, but don't blame the "olds" for Kyle field not being intimidating. The "olds" have never made Kyle field intimidating. However, the students did once. To say it has never been intimidating is simply a false statement, and to blame the "olds" now is simply ridiculous.

It's because old army refuses to yell.
Old School Wrecking Crew
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I remember when we would at times yell through the TV timeout. Just a constant wall of sound.

Old Army does yell - 30% of them all of the time, another 50% join us on third down, and 20% just don't yell. They are just too old.

To say that Kyle Field can not or was not as intimidating as Death Valley is simply wrong!!!!

When we actually had the Wrecking Crew back when I was in school A&M had the longest winning streak at home for a while so please don't come in here and run your mouth!!
Kyle field will be just as intimidating and louder then DV when we get a *********defense, period!!
Deadwood
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I agree - I think the poor play on the field is what is causing the lack of intimidation. Not the olds being lazy or the millenials being pampered. Hard to be loud when your D is getting destroyed.

Oh to be young and stupid. I remember it well!

Death Valley wasn't very loud back in the 90's when they were consistently losing and had a coaching carousel going on. Some of you sprouts don't realize that had an Aggie for their coach for a while. The fans were just as drunk but not near as loud.

Back in the wrecking crew days and some in the early nineties Kyle rocked. Sometimes it levitated. Ask Andre Ware about that. Ask the LSU teams that we demolished at home.

Anyone there for some of those games will tell you the same.

The crowd feeds off the team. Specifically the defense. So don't you young dumba$es be blaming it on old army. Blame it on the long line of sheety coaches starting with RC, then Fran and fat boy 1 and now fatboy 2 who let it all slip away.

It's such a new army excuse to blame the rabid LSU fans on drinking too much and all being drunk. Or the stupid inbred excuses. LSU fans are much better football fans than us becuase they have a winning attitude and DEFENSE. They feed off that. Yeah, many of them are inbibed but Aggies bring liquor and drugs into Kyle and cell phones. Les Miles coached his 24th game where in came back and won in the 4th qtr. The fans feed off of that.

I live in Baton Rouge and go to a game or two each year. That stadium is just electric. Nothing like a night game in Death Valley. I hope we can grow into a similar atmosphere but I have concerns. And yes, I love hard nosed defenses and a running game....turnovers almost bit them but they persevered.

I was at the Nebraska games, tu 1999, OU with Reggie and many more. I've come to the conclusion that Kyle may be louder due to the organized yells but it's just not that intimidating. Last night was sick. The entire stadium was going crazy, stomping, screaming....and impacting the game. Kids watching the game going crazy vs. surfing their smart phones. It's more of a way of life, a connection. Very hard to explain but I want it. They got into Bo's head.

It was very ironic. Watching the crowd look forward to being on defense because they knew they would make a play, get a stop. I felt that way in 1993 when we blanked LSU at Kyle. Common denominator. Defense.

We have to change our scheme, recruiting, and coaching and severe the Big 12 lean build and move towards big boy football. I don think it can be taught at 18. You can't S&C heart, toughness and pride.

You are correct 94chem. The 1991 squad was as good of a team as you will ever see at the college level. It's a shame that RC wasn't able to earn a national title with that team. They were absolutely incredible.

(Amazingly in that FSU game, the defense scored more points than the offense, thanks to the rain and the offense's slippery fingers.)

Home crowd is only as intimidating as the home team and on oarticular the home teams defense

In the wrecking crew days kyle was as intimidating as any place

Our crapass passive defense has made us into a passive crowd

My ears were ringing ...I doubt LSU can top that and it was hotter than hell! I could care less what Bo says.

Other stadiums yell often and whenever they want they don't have to wait to all get synchronized to try and yell, they are always turnt up

Give me a few traditional chants that everyone knows that you can do throughout the game instead of our old tired yells. Maybe do a yell every once in a while only.

And you are comparing us to LSU?

The team that had tens of thousands of empty seats because their team was out of contention for the SEC West? Keep in mind this was in the midst of a season when they went 10-3 and when the reigning Heisman winner was in town.

So being a fair weather fan and not showing up at all is better than heading home once the game has been decided. Got it.

Daschie and Irish Man why don't you both go to an LSU forum and stay there.

I've been to Tiger Stadium plenty of times and seen them shut up and go home early when they are getting their arse kicked.

You are comparing apples and oranges. Kyle Field is also pretty damn loud in a 3 point game.

These threads highlight the transient nature of your generation and our society in general. Your fast food generation attributes manifest themselves in a different way than the cel phone users you refer to, but you're nonetheless guilty of the same frame of mind.

One team held its opponent to 7 points. The other team just gave up 52 points (7tds and 1 FG) during the first 8 possessions against its last opponent. The fans aren't the defense, the defense is the difference. If our defense holds the #3 team to 7 points and we win a night game 10-7 then Kyle will be very intimidating.

You live in Baton Rouge and were in Death Valley last night. There's no way you could be in LA and South Carolina at the same time. We all know the real death valley is in Clemson.

Just got back to CS from Baton Rouge. I don't have a voice today and I had NO alcohol yesterday. We're no different than anyone else ... If the team is playing well in an important game we will be loud. ..If not, then Tiger Stadium is just as quiet as anywhere else.

Part of the difference is the way Tiger Stadium is built. When Governor Huey P Long wanted to expand the stadium in the 1930s, the legislature only had money for more dorms. Solution-- build dormitories at Tiger Stadium. The stadium has old brick dorms all the way around it and there is no place the sound can go. Hence a big reason why it's louder at Tiger Stadium.

That atmosphere last night gave me chills watching it on tv, especially when watching them get that late TD. Just a very unique atmosphere that cannot be replicated. That's SEC football in general.

I attended the midnight yell before the Ole Miss game. Quite honestly I was blown away by the new Kyle Field. I agree with others that it is all about the product on the field. Coach Sumlin needs to focus on building up the defense and running game. Pointing the finger at some old folks not yelling is way off base. Get an LSU like defense and you get an LSU like crowd, Texas style!
