Who cares about 20+ years ago.........the players today talk about how death valley is roughest place to play. It's nice to think about well back in my day...........but now it means nothing.

Defense!!!! We need to get one.
Fans that don't leave at the start of the 4th quarter because "oh Lawd I have to drive a couple of hours to get home and there's no reason to stick around": we need them.
Aggies have become fickle and pathetic when we are backed into a corner. Grow a pair and yell at the game or give your ticket to someone who is actually going to make noise and not bail early.

New Army doesn't understand when I say that the '91 squad may have been the best team in the modern era. But that's how they played defense. And that's how our fans reacted to it. In the Cotton Bowl we turned it over 8 times and allowed 10 points.
quote:True, it means nothing, but don't blame the "olds" for Kyle field not being intimidating. The "olds" have never made Kyle field intimidating. However, the students did once. To say it has never been intimidating is simply a false statement, and to blame the "olds" now is simply ridiculous.

Oh to be young and stupid. I remember it well!
Death Valley wasn't very loud back in the 90's when they were consistently losing and had a coaching carousel going on. Some of you sprouts don't realize that had an Aggie for their coach for a while. The fans were just as drunk but not near as loud.
Back in the wrecking crew days and some in the early nineties Kyle rocked. Sometimes it levitated. Ask Andre Ware about that. Ask the LSU teams that we demolished at home.
Anyone there for some of those games will tell you the same.
The crowd feeds off the team. Specifically the defense. So don't you young dumba$es be blaming it on old army. Blame it on the long line of sheety coaches starting with RC, then Fran and fat boy 1 and now fatboy 2 who let it all slip away.

I live in Baton Rouge and go to a game or two each year. That stadium is just electric. Nothing like a night game in Death Valley. I hope we can grow into a similar atmosphere but I have concerns. And yes, I love hard nosed defenses and a running game....turnovers almost bit them but they persevered.
I was at the Nebraska games, tu 1999, OU with Reggie and many more. I've come to the conclusion that Kyle may be louder due to the organized yells but it's just not that intimidating. Last night was sick. The entire stadium was going crazy, stomping, screaming....and impacting the game. Kids watching the game going crazy vs. surfing their smart phones. It's more of a way of life, a connection. Very hard to explain but I want it. They got into Bo's head.
It was very ironic. Watching the crowd look forward to being on defense because they knew they would make a play, get a stop. I felt that way in 1993 when we blanked LSU at Kyle. Common denominator. Defense.
We have to change our scheme, recruiting, and coaching and severe the Big 12 lean build and move towards big boy football. I don think it can be taught at 18. You can't S&C heart, toughness and pride.

Home crowd is only as intimidating as the home team and on oarticular the home teams defense
In the wrecking crew days kyle was as intimidating as any place
Our crapass passive defense has made us into a passive crowd

One team held its opponent to 7 points. The other team just gave up 52 points (7tds and 1 FG) during the first 8 possessions against its last opponent. The fans aren't the defense, the defense is the difference. If our defense holds the #3 team to 7 points and we win a night game 10-7 then Kyle will be very intimidating.
