Going back and looking at the drive charts, plays ran, and competition, I have to say that MSU has been better than their opponents, but certainly not as impressive as everyone is talking about.

UAB and LSU were two wins where opponents scored easily with minimal offensive talent. UAB actually lead twice in their game with MSU when taking advantage of MSU's weak pass offense. LSU is just now figuring out their offense and played horribly against MSU.

MSU gains a few yards and Prescott runs for 1st down, MSU throws for a few yards and Prescott runs for a 1st down. This kid is a talented player, but not as sharp a thrower as Manziel or half the QB's in our league. Attack him in the pocket, tackle him and keep him from running for 1st downs and he cannot beat us with his arm.

The ONLY way MSU can win is to play keep away, run the clock and let Prescott run the ball for boring 1st after 1st downs. If LSU had any pass offense, they would have destroyed MSU... UAB certainly was competitive deep into the game until errors cost them. After Arkie, MSU will be a surprisingly easy win for the Ags who got their wake-up call, will show up with a chip on their shoulder, and play hard.

Arkie? Big, strong, runs hard, impressive!!
MSU? Stop their QB from running, easy win!

Prediction: 48-28 - Ag's ring the cowbell more than the dogs

LSU has minimal offensive talent?

Idiotic statements like that totally sabotage any legitimate observations/thoughts you may have.

Its amazing how people of this board continue to trash LSU even though they've owned us recently.

Correction for the cheap seats - LSU has plenty of talent, but takes the coaches 1/2 the season to figure it out

They will be a different team by the time Thanksgiving rolls around!

Now - Back to MSU

Key fact of the game to watch for - MSU is shifting their OL to cover their suspension and Prescott will be under pressure faster/earlier. If we can make him throw vs run, we will get some turnovers

2 INT's by our Defense - or 2 fumbles

I have been known to "talk ****" about opponents (see this thread)

but I'm worried about MSU b/c our LB play is not good. Mastro is hurt and we are not playing well at LB, except for washington. the spread option, when run well, WHICH MSU ABSOLUTELY DOES, really exploits bad LB play and magnifies it.

I think we will have to score 50 to win.

I agree with the LSU statement. They had a bad QB. It appears that LSU is starting to figure out their offense and I believe they will be a 2 loss team by the time we play them.

They'll still be a really good LSU team by Thanksgiving.

IMO the biggest factor influencing whether we win or lose on Saturday will be keeping Prescott in the pocket. He will absolutely shred our defense if we let him scramble.

I really think a lot of Aggies are underestimating Prescott's running ability.

It's not so much that he is fast, it's more that he is big and plays the QB position.

He is going to be tough to taccklefor an entire game and his running will make it much tougher for our defense on thrid downs.

With Ark and Allen we didn;t have to worry about the QB running for a first down, but with prescott even if we are in position to tackle him, he may still make yards.

once again, the key for us is going to be if our offense is sharp. If we come out smoking, we can put the pressure on them

We have to score early and often... basically make Prescott feel like he needs to try and throw down-field, even when he might have the option to run.

Basically, just play similar to how we played SC... sure, we'll give up some points, but we'll keep scoring so many that it will feel like a hopeless climb. I'd really like to see our offense catch fire again after leaving so much on the field last week.

Prescott reminds me of Mizzou's James Franklin a couple of years back, at least when running the ball. He's quick enough to escape and tough to bring down. RB Josh Robinson is really good too. I don't think there will be anything easy about this game from a defensive standpoint. MSU is like Rice with much better players.

It'll be somewhere between the USCe and SMU games. Ags win big and Kyle Allen throws 5 TD passes in the second half.

I think Rice proved we can struggle against a QB willing to run it... and the was RICE!!! Prescott will certainly have some success, just hope we put them in a big enough hole that he can't choose the run or pass

I watched most of the first half of the MSU-LSU game, and from what I witnessed, their D is bonafide, hair on fire, Superman-punching Bad Azzes. They are Big, Physical ballers man.

If we fall flat against them this saturday, we won't recover a win out of there this time..

My key to the game thought is how fast our O starts. If we can manage to click out of the starting blocks, build an early lead, establish rhythm and tempo, it will take the crowd out early and our chances go way up to win, say 75% probability..If their D serves up more than say 3 stops early in the first quarter and a half, we will be on the ropes again..and our chances will go way down..say 35% chance to win...

Like Arkansas their obese linemen, on offense and defense, will be completely exhausted by the second half.

A&M will suffer no such indignity however, as apparently we have the best conditioning coaches in the NCAA.

Even if we fall behind early, we stage a brutal comeback.

That being said, I don't think we'll fall behind.

Yep.
Like others have said, we need to get up by two TDs early so that MSU plays catchup and has to pass more than usual. We needed to do that against Arky too, but instead we faltered early. Made the game much tougher.

"FOCUS ON US" is not just coach speak.
If we catch the ball, eliminate penalties and connect with, even, 2 deep passes.
We can, and should, score "50" on theses guys. (would have scored 40+ last week)

If 4th qtr (piggie game) Kenny shows up, we win hands down. If he "short throws" everything longer than 25 yards... again. We will struggle. And yes, "short throw" is his problem. He is trying to get the ball out too fast on the deep ball, instead of stepping and transferring his weight.
Piggie knew this and kept everyone in tight to cut down the lanes and to make Kenny beat them deep.
What I ws not expecting was that they got WAY to much pressure bringing just 4. Especially early.

Defense is simple Tackle. Dak. In. Space. And NO pass interference.

Shann Washington will need to SPY the QB on every play, our D linemen will need to make sure the pocket remains tight so he can go up the middle for a big run, will need great DE play as well, put pressure on him, and make the pocket tight.

We cannot let him escape the pocket to keep running for huge gains, especially when we have them on 3rd and long etc.

If I were A&M's defensive coaches I would watch film of LSU's defense against JFF in order to prepare for the Dak Attack. Either year.

I think MSU presents a formidable challenge. Their defensive front 7 is strong and solid, and can create pressure by blitzing only one backer or with only their 4 down lineman or by dropping a DE into the short-middle to cover the short crossing routes and delayed runs and blitzing a backer. I also wouldn't put it past them to - at times - rush only 3 and drop eight into coverage using a mix of man and zone coverage (copying the LSU strategy that has worked well against us; for reference, this is also the strategy the NE Patriots used against the Indianapolis Colts back in the mid-oughts: stand up the line with 3 rushers, drop 8 into coverage, and hope for a coverage sack; or send a 4th defender blitzing from an unexpected area to disrupt the timing of the play). Essentially, this is a "we're going to give you 2-4 yards, but we're going to have a defender near your receiver or back to immediately hit him hard. This forces long drives down the field that can be stopped if the offense makes even a single mistake.

I don't have cable so this is not a regurgitation of ESPN-speak, but Prescott is a leader and a WINNER - and that is something that doesn't show up on a stat sheet (we have experienced the fun side of this with JFF). Their offense is improved and increasingly more dynamic. Arkansas showed what it takes to effectively defeat our defense: establish a run and throw to wide open TE's releasing off of play-action blocks, all while eating the clock and keeping our offense off the field. Expect this strategy to be used by every team with the personnel to pull it off (and looking at our schedule, that's just about the rest of the SECW).

I expect MSU's best, and - though stating the obvious - jumping out early with some success through the air is our best opportunity for a comfortable win.

MSU like so many other teams in the West will give us all we can handle.

This is no gimme BY A LONG WAY.

We need to play our best, match their intensity and play mistake free.

Gonna be a great game. Looking forward to it.

Prescott is for real.
