Arkansas is a bad matchup for us; you need really good LBs to stop their running game which is our biggest weakness. I think we win, but it will probably be a lot closer than people on TexAgs think. I predict 34-31 Ags

Our LB play will be much better against Arky. Mastro will be back and Shaan Washington might be back b

Everybody and I mean everybody will miss tackles. That wasn't the only point. Tech was running around blocks and generally playing poor technique. Arkansas will run the ball well on most teams. You don't have to completely shut them down. You just cannot let them run wild. A&M will score plenty on the Ark. defense. Guys expecting a defense in todays college football to just force a team to go 3 and out every series is living in the past. The name of the game is to win. If that is a 52-35 game or a 10-7 game it is no difference. There are no bad wins. Look at the games played in college footballs first 3 weeks, I haven't seen a real dominant team so far. Wins are all that matters. I would rather win ugly than lose pretty.

I agree any win against SEC team is a good win... but we had "dominant" win against SC.
That game was pretty game from A&M's offensive point of view.

I was home for lunch and watched the Big 12 No huddle game, Ark. vs. Tech. Arkansas is a good running team. But man after watching Techs defense, I am a little less concerned about Ark. Tech missed more tackles at the Line of Scrimmage than I could count. Techs defensive front is very bad. I know they are built to face Big 12 offenses, but their technique up front is really bad. They ran around blocks creating holes ( the Hogs size I am sure was the reason they were doing this) and if they were in position to make tackles in the hole they whiffed. The Ark. defense will have trouble stopping the Aggies as well.
I watched that game too and saw Arkansas's spring game. As I had said earlier in the year. They have more talent at RB than we do probably. Either way, they're really good at the run game and yes they're offensive line aint shabby either.

I'm not worried though because unlike tceh. We tackle better and are much better with the various blitz packages that we have. Unlike tceh, we can run the ball too and pass better than them. Arkansas won't be able to keep up. The only way we lose this game is if we catch a bad case of turnovers

We are good enough on defense to slow them down playing 8 in the box. I don't think the Arkie QB can pass us out of it. He was able to throw on us some last year because we were having to play 9 in/near the box.

His longest completion against Auburn went 26 yards. Longest completion against tech went 16 yards. He did complete something like 65% against Auburn, but was averaging less than 6 yards/ attempt even with all those completions.

In the opening series, arkie runs a flea-flicker. The WR torches the DB but the QB overshoots him badly. towards the end of the first half, he misses am open WR running a go route against single coverage. That play was an obvious read pre-snap since both safeties are way far away to help. Again on that drive, he misses the TE in the endzone. TE dives but cant get it. The QB just does not appear to have the arm strength to zip it in there.

So I stopped watching after Arkie's first drive of the 2ndhalf. The QB makes good decisions and is very accurate on short passes. He is not fast, but he can scramble. He scrambles to throw and only runs when its wide open.

I think we kill them as long as we don't turn it over a bunch. The QB will complete a few here and there, but we will force them into 3rd and long and dominate those downs.

We ran the ball well against Arkansas last year, and had some long drives in the 2nd half. Granted, the weather played a factor, as the game was played in a pretty constant mist. With Cam Clear back, I think we'll be able to do whatever we want offensively against Arkansas. I also think that our run defense is better than last year, and much better than what Tech put on the field this past Saturday. Rice has a mobile qb, and they do some things on offense (it appears), where they use some misdirection and manipulate the defense through formations. Arkansas, pretty much just lines up and tries to pummel the defense. I'd guess we'd do some twisting and stunting to try to clog up running lanes like we did against USCe. The run defense we saw against Rice concerns me more when I think about playing Auburn.

Agreed Adam. Auburn is my biggest concern this year.

Arkansas has a bad defense. They wont compete until they get that fixed. Also, cant throw the ball except for screens and swing passes. Tech cant throw the ball down the field. Has to throw short and hope for run after catch. Made Ark look alot better than they are.

Game will be alot like last year between us. Arkansas will get their yards on the ground. Unless we turn it over, we should be able to score at will.

Alex Collins is a good back but the other kid Williams is the guy you have to worry about, imo. He's got both power and speed and he was very productive against us last year. But as long as we get penetration from the front 3 or 4, pushing blockers a step or 2 back and making sure we wrap up and tackle, we should come out with an easy win. Brandon Allen just isn't very good and they know if they get behind, too far, they will be in trouble.

I hope you optimists are right. But Arkansas scares me. Big O-line and tough running backs. Our D is better but this will be a test.

You can if you get 7-8 yards/rush

I'm not saying it won't be a test. I think they look better than they did last year, but I also think we look better on both sides of the ball.
