Taking my wife to her first A&M away game. Was wondering where some other Ags are going to be tailgating for the SMU game and if a couple of extra Ags are welcome to stop by? We will pitch in and bring whatever will help.

They have a nice tailgating scene. There will be more tailgating during the game than will actually be in the stadium.

I've been looking forward to some boulevard tailgating since September 2012

The people watching at "The Boulevard" as they call it is worth almost as much as watching the Aggies skull f*** the Ponies.

I am sure there will be a several large Aggie setups in that area.

The SMU tailgate is actually really good, but highly regulated. Tailgate spots on the boulevard must be reserved in advance - I believe through the athletics department. I think there is a public tent where you can buy concessions and watch games on big screen TV's.

If you know an SMU alumnus, stick with them. The various schools usually have their own tailgates and alumni can bring as many guests as they want (within reason). That being said, each school has its own tailgate with its own rules, and I can't speak for all of them.

I've actually got an MBA from the Cox School of Business so I'll be bringing my wife and a couple of friends. It's going to be awkward when I show up for my name tag and food/drink tickets wearing maroon...

If you have to park in the area, where is the best area to park?

If you're getting there early, there are multiple on-campus cash lots (and garages) to choose from and none of them are bad. However, if you don't plan on arriving really early, I recommend either taking the DART or parking at Mockingbird Station and walking across the highway.

They don't really like game day parkers at Mockingbird Station, though. So you would want to eat lunch or something there before heading over. But you'll have less traffic when you're trying to leave and the lunch won't cost any more than the cash lots on campus.

Whatever you do, don't park in the surrounding neighborhoods. You will get ticketed.

I've read their website a few times and can't tell if you're allowed to tailgate in the pay lots. anyone know?

Boulevard spots are pricey.

I bought a pass for Lot T and emailed their ticket department to ask about tailgating in that lot specifically. They responded "yes, you may use a grill in any of the surface lots. The requirement is that you are beyond 25 feet from any structure."

I expect that there won't be much activity in the lots. You'll just hear the music blaring from the Boulevard and wish you were over there, instead.

How early should people get to Boulevard - especially if they don't know anyone along it ?

There's going to be about 25,000 Aggies at the game, so I wouldn't count on being welcomed with open arms to partake in a random SMU tailgate in the name of good sportsmanship. If you want to join a random tailgate bring an access pass either in the form of (1) females or (2) a case of beer.

For a 2:30 game, what time does the party start on Boulevard?

Yes, how early is "arrive early" 11:30? 12:30?

I suspect that getting there at noon is sufficient, but I never park on campus for games so I'm not 100% sure.
