I don't care about LHN, so yes I'll do whatever I have to do to get SEC Network.

If in order to receive SECN I have to accept LHN with it I will. But, I will set a Parental Lock on LHN just so no one watches it even by accident. I consider LHN as "Sports Pron" Can't be to careful.

Typical , miss your own games in protest of the true love of your life in Austin.

Just let it go.

Seriously? Isn't it just easier to have something you don't want and not use it?

I would most likely b tch at DirecTV about this and threaten to quit if I could not get a reduction in my cable bill. It may work, it may not. In the end, it is really insignificant.

My question is an ethical one. If, in order to get something you value, you must also purchase something morally objectionable, is it right for your money to keep the vile filth in existence? Is the provider holding your viewing choices hostage in order to fund the filth no one wants to watch a form of blackmail?

Until cable providers allow the option of a la carte channel subscriptions, then yes, you have to take the good with the bad.

How long until a la carte internet TV viewing eliminates this blackmail? A&M already sells AggieTV access online to game broadcasts, coiaches' shows, etc. How hard could it be to extrapolate this concept onto the market as a whole? Although I fully expect ABC/Disney/ESiPN will try to get Congress to outlaw it so they aren't stuck with lhn contract.

I have U-Verse, and consequently already have lhn. I did call to let AT&T know that I wasn't happy about it, asking if they could remove it, and they can not. I knew that wasn't likely, but was hoping they would at least record the complaint. And personally I have bigger moral objections to the crap that is on Bravo and E in that they make shows that make America dumber. lhn represents greed, but it's viewers are already part of the evil empire, so it's not spreading. E and Bravo will continue spreading their brand of dumbness.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^You can remove channels from your guide in the U-Verse Settings.

It must be nice to have such a good life that your biggest problems revolve around receiving a certain tv station.

Cable TV is socialist. You pay a hefty sum for a handful of channels and the tit suckers like Hallmark Movie Channel, Food Network, Oxygen, Military History, etc. all subsist (basically) on our monthly bill.

Another way to look at it: sports fans are having their sports channels subsidized by non-sports fans (like student football tix at tech). Be careful what you wish for with a la carte programming.

I think that I have changed my mind and I now support LHN because it keeps the sips trapped right where they are in the BDF.

I still plan to put a Parental Block on the channel so that no one in my house can even accidentally turn to it.

Unless politics prevents us from advancing as a society, which is highly possible, I have read that one day the internet and TV will merge. Everything will be on demand and TV networks can no longer hold us hostage or steal our money (Hallmark Channel, E!, etc).

Much like Napster and iTunes revolutionized music. Remember paying $20 for a CD that had two songs that you liked and 10 that you didn't care about? You'll probably pay for a data plan like cell phone coverage and then select which shows or sporting events you want to watch. Can't wait.

I would enjoy watching tu in football on the LHN in the following circumstances:

Losing big
barely losing
barely winning

So therefore, I think I would enjoy watching some football games on LHN.

I didn't know I had it until the super regionals, but watching Augie's cooking show was good. Would be the only regular show worth a look.

I hope it does. I currently have Grande and it carries LHN so I hope SECN is added as well. I should probably call and ask...

henry07, unfortunately I think politics will block that from happening. One thing the gov't can do better than anyone else is f*** stuff up for no good reason. Cable and sat providers will lobby against allowing their customers the ability to only pay for what they want/use, and will have enough power to prevent others from entering the market. AT&T already has U-Verse, and is in the process of purchasing DirecTV, only awaiting gov't approval. Considering they already provide internet to lots of other people they can dictate a lot of what people can choose. Of course you also have the parent companies of channels that will lobby hard against it. You want ESPN? Then you get Disney too. You want History? You get Lifetime and A&E.
