How long does one have to do Junior College before transferring in ?

Take and ace a couple summer classes, transfer in for the fall ?

BOOM Diggity.

Its looking more and more like our defenses only problem this year is that we won't be able to cover anybody in our secondary (as opposed to last year when we couldn't cover anyone, AND we couldn't stop the run)

Good lord

Let's see if he can make it through a year of being told what to do before getting excited. A football player who cannot make Bs and Cs in some crappy Texas public school is a huge red flag.

Figure most HIGH SCHOOLS with a D1 prospect will bend over backwards to make sure he has a chance. Even if the high school will not go out of its way, it does not take much organization or brainpower to make passing grades.

All of this means that Hoza Scott is either an idiot, a complete slug, or some sort of combo.

Let him stay at Blinndergarden for 2 years. If he can play at a high level and stay out of the doghouse, then offer him.

All the Blinn haters must not remember a dude named Cam Newton.

Oh...and I support paying tuition for strippers...in 1 dollar bills.

I remember Cam. He was a crook. He went to Blinn after getting kicked off the team at Florida. 2 kinds of players go to Juco:

1. Kids with academic issues; and
2. Kids not good enough to get offered by a 4-year

Didn't he drop out and get his GED? I think he already attempted to attend classes at Kilgore at the start of the year.

My understanding is that Jose enrolled in a hardship program at Kilgore that would allow him to earn his GED while taking college credit courses, as well as play JUCO ball. The program at Kilgore required a 2 year commitment, minimum, before he would be eligible to transfer to a D1 school, assuming everthing went perfectly. Obviously, that did not happen.

I'm pretty sure he dropped out of high school at christmas during his senior year before he graduated. Then he dropped out of Kilgore after only a few days. I am not sure if he has a GED now, but it seems doubtful. I am also not sure if Blinn has this type of hardship program or not, or what the time commitment is. Either way, good luck to him, and I hope he gets an education above all else.

I have a High School Senior who was accepted to AGGIELAND but chose a Junior College for Livestock Judging then plans on transferring into A&M. So your theory on only people who go to Junior Colleges can't make it into four year programs doesn't fly.

I said 2 kinds of "players." Not regular people. Yes, for regular people who are not going to get a full ride for athletics juco often makes a lot of sense. I did tech writing and a few other courses at Blinn. The price was right. I said "players."

And also yes, I would like to see Hoza Scott qualify and come play here. Maybe he grows up during his 2 years at Blinndergarden, if he doesnt then let him play at KState or the Texas Penal league with some of my other clients.

Quentin Coryatt had to prove something. Not the same situation, but he almost left...I would say things turned out pretty good for QC. Awesome college career. Made millions in the NFL. Came back to finish his degree at A&M. Successful, respected professional. Just sayin'

Jonathan Mathis. A&M was recruiting him when he was in HS. Non qualifier. Went to Blinn. Took advantage of the opportunities he had there. Spent entire summer, mini mesters, holidays, etc to take care of business. Blinn & A&M helped him with his study skills.

Came in 2010 & unexpectedly earned the starting position by mid year. Figured out how to balance school & football. He is a very proud Aggie Grad.

Derel Walker TVCC...

The list goes on.

Great to see most people posting positive well wishes for Hoza. Hope he follows through like the others.

Would you like to put Q, Derel or Jonathan in that blank?

How many times have we had a recruit have to go the JC route, Blinn or other, and then have him actually transfer to A&M. I can't think of one.

Yes. This is generally good advice for all of you. Not just Hoza.

Guess you didn't read my post. Mathis did not commit to us, but A&M was recruiting him.

I guess you could argue Walker was not a target prior to enrolling at TVCC, but the point is he had to enroll at a junior college. I would say most of us are very happy Walker was a part of our team & became an Aggie.

Coryatt almost transferred to a JUCO because he had to sit out the first 2 years due to NCAA violation with entrance exam. He had to wait two years & workout on his own. Times were different. I suspect had that happened today he would have had to go JUCO first.

Hoza actually did well enough on his exam. He is capable, but obviously lacked discipline getting to class.

I guess people will think what they want. Just saying it does happen. Maybe not often, but for the ones who follow through it is life changing.

Will Hoza? Time will tell, but I am rooting for him.

^^^ The important question remains, but... Supposedly he was accepted to Blinn for this semester. Whether he showed up is an entirely different matter.
