Liverpool have a chance to solidify their hold on the Premier League title with a win over Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday. The fans can help propel and energize a team and Liverpool striker Luis Suarez praised the fans ahead of the all important clash.
“The fans are the 12th man. The atmosphere at Anfield is amazing and when you go out onto the pitch and see that support, it’s unbelievable,” Suarez said, via the club’s website.
“With this support every game, it’s like we can’t lose here at home. They are so strong for us but even if we lose a game or play badly, they’ll continue to help us. For the team and the players, that’s unbelievable. We will try to make sure they enjoy the game.”
“When the supporters are excited, we are excited as well,” he added. “It’s a really good game – the most important game this season because both teams are at the top.
“We’ll play at home, but we’ll keep calm, try to keep the ball and take it easy. We’ll try to play with no pressure because when you do, it’s more difficult for the players.
“The supporters now are really happy, but I think it’s better they keep calm.
“They should enjoy the game and this moment because it’s a good time for Liverpool supporters. They don’t need to worry because we will try our best, give 120 per cent on the pitch and try to win the [remaining] games.”
