Toney Hurd, Jr. reflects on his time in Aggieland

Key quotes from Toney Hurd, Jr. interview

"The scouts were giving me a lot of good feedback and I'll be taking some trips to visit teams in the next couple weeks."

"A lot of people don't know I played half the season with a torn rotator cuff."

"Aaron Glenn is somebody I can always reach back to if I ever have a question or need advice."

"The last couple of years have been a roller coaster. I figured out what I had to do and became a man before my own eyes."

"When Coach Sumlin and his staff came in, it was my chance to make an immediate impact."

"I think the Ole Miss game was the one that got us over the hump. Sumlin kept telling me to read the QB and be patient."

"We never overlooked Duke. When we went in at halftime, nobody was smiling or anything. We came out with our ears on fire."

"When I got the interception vs. Duke, I was holding the ball with one hand, because I couldn't lift my shoulder."

"The secondary as a whole next year will be solid."

"Coach Joseph is more hard-nosed with a sense of urgency. The guys are embracing it and love the way he coaches."

"My best play was against Alabama when T.J. Yeldon got through the hole, it was one-on-one and I gave him a good hit for the fumble."

"I want to say thank you to all Aggies for the love and support."

Thank you Toney Hurd! I live in Florida and so I don't have the opportunities to be as close to the Aggies as I may wish I did. So, I get a lot of my news via the net. I generally catch the post-game media events for the coach's and team perspective and comments. Coach Sumlin and the Aggie staff made the right choice in selecting you and Ben so often to fill this role. Seeing you so often in these settings tended to make me feel like you and Ben are the Aggie players I know the best and appreciate the most. I couldn't be more proud to be an Aggie having you two as the face of the Texas Aggies. Your succinct, positive, confident, mature answers to reporters questions were Always just what needed to be said. Never too much, just right to the point. Your representation is an example to the younger guys who will step in to fill those roles in the future. You did that job well and your play on the field was equally so solid. Best of luck in the future and Gig'em!

Gosh I remember watching him commit to us during the Army All-American game sitting next to his mom. I swear that seems like 2 months ago. How time flies.

Key, key plays by the land shark. Gig 'em!!
