There are no open container restrictions and you can have glass, aluminum, kegs on wheels, beer hats or even walk around with a handle of liquor if you really want to.

You also are not restricted to "tailgating areas" as the entire campus and surrounding areas are considered a tailgating area. Anywhere near/around campus or downtown you will be allowed to drink worry free.

Bonus - It is very easy to get flasks in the stadium as well, you can walk in with it in your pocket.

As for open containers, be careful and use common sense. Having been to a few games in red stick, I can tell you that the drinking policy varies with the I.Q. of the police officer or security personnel that you encounter. I would definitely not recommend walking around the downtown area with an open handle of booze. Good way to have an unpleasant meeting with Bubba.

Good advice! Yesterday Went to eat at perrain's (really delicious). Went to bulldogs as well. Had a great selection of beers and liquor. Then went to duvic's. Total dive bar atmosphere and really smoky - I didn't like it.

I am not a huge fan of Duvic's either but included it on the list as some people think it is great (probably smokers). I know that LSU posts official rules, but as someone who has been to more LSU games than I can count, I can promise you that unless you are acting an ass, you will not get in trouble for any alcohol related activities.
