Does anyone has a photo of the orginal "upper deck" on the west side? If I remember, there was a saaller upper deck which was replaced by an upper deck that went from end zone to end zone. Was the old upper deck covered up the new upper deck?

Also I love the old photo where the visiting team's name was painted in the north end zone and Texas A&M was painted in the south end zone.

For an old school look, I always wanted to see the end zones painted like they were at Tiger Stadium in the 70's, where there was huge LSU in the north zone and a huge A&M in the south end zone. I know it's not Kyle Field, but I would love to see a photo of that.

Is this the smaller deck you are talking about?


If I remember correctly when walking underneath on the ground level you can look up and see remnants of that deck still in place. I guess they were in a hurry so they just plopped it right on top.

Found this one while looking up the other picture. I guess I never realized they built the third decks one section at a time.

They left the raker beams (hope that is the right name) but I think they removed the risers. They kept using the '53 press box, it just had the last row backing up to the wall below the windows instead of having any overhang

Can anybody tell me the story (if there's anything to tell) about the granite block T in the first deck of the Zone? IIRC, in 1987, it was under the horseshoe, and then obviously moved due to the construction.

I realize I'm a little late to the party, but I thought I'd post some photos I took at a game against Texas Tech in 1986. This was during my freshman year.

In the old pictures of Kyle I see the project houses where my father in law lived, Deware where I endured the Dirty 30 under Coach Stallings, played racket ball in and officed for 4 years, Guion Hall where I went to orientation and beside which I played touch football, Hart Hall where I lived for two years, one deck Kyle where I met Yale Lary and Bob Smith when I was 5, where I watch the Aggies tie Baylor 21-21 at my first Aggie game, the second deck and press box that Bear built and was built over in the late 60's, the Williams Center that I raised every penny for and helped design. Memories I am thankful for. Gig'em Aggies

Seeing pics before the Zone reminds me of All-U Night for some reason.

I am so glad the astroturf is gone. It always looked terrible. Can't imagine getting tackled on it.
