Since I am one of masses choosing on the 28th and complaining does not help I wanted to see which zone bench seating is better. Each has their benefits:

North
1) Roughly 2400 fewer people if you include the Zone Upper Armchairs
2) Escalator
3) Familiarity
4) Better view of Video Board

South
1) Closer to the field in the lower rows because no Upper Armchairs
2) Newer facilities
3) Better sightlines because of the angles in the South Zone and not having the railings with the Upper Armchairs.
4) 5 inches more legroom

Not sure which side has an advantage with the sun and what the wait times will be at Rest Rooms and Concessions.

Wondered what other opinions were or if anybody had better drawings than what is shown on the website.

South. North is good but I have a feeling everything on the South will be at least 5 times better, with the exception of Pepsi. That's just good on a level that cannot improve, unless it's wild cherry.

If you're looking at just bench seating, I think the new south end zone may be best from a shade perspective. Probably the southwest corner?

Escalator would be in the Northwest or Northeast corner I would imagine. You brought up a good point on the legroom. The South Side mentions that it will have 5 inches more legroom.

South zone also will have 5 inches add'l legroom.

North zone will face the main video board.

More Leg Room? Seriously?

sw corner of south 300 is reserved for staff/faculty. etc

Hey when you are 6' 2" you never joke about legroom.

It's like North Padre and South Padre. South is obviously better, but north is still good

I think the sun will set faster on the north side than the south.

i think the northwest half of the upper zone will get shade faster than the south, especially vs the southeast part of south side

if your going bench, id go south 300, if you want armchair id go north 550

Folks, we are in the northern hemisphere. The sun is to the south. That is why satellite dishes and solar panels face south. Even at high noon in September, the sun is not directly overhead; it is to the south. Therefore, the sun will be at your back in the south end zone and in your face in the north zone. It is true that as it sets to the west, the third deck on the west side will shade you faster than the empty space to the west of the south zone. So game time does also matter with respect to overall comfort.

As it sets, the angle shades the west side of the zone, and will be right in the face of the east side of the south zone since the stadium is not oriented true North south, and because of the declination of the sun.

I'm picking on the last day as well and probably go south bench if the armchairs are gone; I'll gladly take some extra leg room and probably better seats in the 300 section. It can't possibly be worse than the upper deck in the Zone.

when the sun is setting the nw corner of the upper zone gets shade, therefore the southeast corner of the south endzone will be in the sun the longest

North Zone > South Zone

i think picking solely based on shade is overrated. if all our games were in september in the middle of the day, then yes i would do the same. But if im not mistaking we do have night games and games in october and november

Morning games, more sun in the face of north side. Afternoon/evening, then more sun in the south side.

What is the true orientation of Kyle Field? Checked, and the field is oriented almost exactly NW - SE, or from 315 to 135 degrees.

On 9/21 the sun sets on the horizon at due west true bearing. Before that it is setting N of due west, as much as about 315 degrees on June 21 at our latitude.

After 9/21 the sun sets south of due west at an increasing rate, until it is setting at about SW on Dec 21 at our latitude.

Now you can go figure where the shade will be. Pretty easy.

So is the shade issue the reason why North zone is going much faster than south zone today? I'm picking at noon today and wondered why the difference. Seems like a strange reason, especially when south will have 5" more leg room.

I'm definitely shooting for south (southwest corner) for shade and the let room.

Well yeah, there's the let room to consider. Haven't thought about that!

I haven’t decided if my new TV will be better on the northside or southside of my living room. I’ll report back as soon as I have figured out which side is more premium.

I picked yesterday and got my own personal fan girl. You guys should have donated more. I think those seats are gone.
