What is the ventilation situation going to be like in the ramps with the new brick facade? It is going to be a steamy trip down from the top of the zone.

Can we not go an entire page without this question being asked?
That kind of stuff only happens in premium, at least that's what I hear.

Two quick thoughts from walking by today.

1) I imagine that the windows will be installed on the right part of the zone very soon (as in possibly beginning tomorrow)

2) It appears that there have already been escalators have been installed (or at least partially installed) in the zone.

I think the escalators you are talking about are the ones that lead to the Zone Club and have been there since it was built.

That's actually probably what it is. Part of the reason I included that in the update is because I was so surprised they had already been installed. Its been quite a while since I've been inside the zone, so I'm not entirely sure how it's set up

Dunno. Possibly. I was just commenting on the '96. Like I assume you were commenting on the '97.

Steel that will be exposed to the elements is prepainted grey (towers and external concourses), whereas steel that is going to be internal after completion is uncoated. It will eventually be sprayed with a fire deterrent foam that adheres better to the untreated surfaces. The slight layer of rust formed over these couple of weeks will have no effect on the integrity of the steel.

If you study the pics you can see examples of all three.
In general trems, it's not external vs internal. It's simply fireproofing vs no fireproofing. Internal steel doesn't always have fireproofing. You see internal painted steel all the time.

Of course I have no idea what the specs are on this project specifically. I imagine there will be quite a bit of exposed structure, so my question is, with there really be large amounts of exposed fireproofing on this project, even in the "nicer" areas? They do make a fireproofing coating that looks more like paint, so you don't have to see the ugly sprayed fireproofing, but that may not be an option.

By and large it will be encased behind brick, Sheetrock and wood paneling if the renderings are any guide.

Which I'm sort of curious about because we've heard repeatedly that the steel will flex a little especially when the war hymn is played. Does that mean there's going to be a lot of cracks in the Sheetrock walls or how are walls in steel structures typically setup?

Whether or not a structure requires fireproofing is dependent upon a lot of factors spelled out in the building codes. Building type, construction type, allowable square footage, and occupancy type all factor in determining the necessary fire resistance of a structure.

There are also provisions that state if the primary structural elements are at a certain height above the occupied floor, fire resistance is not needed; you typically see this for indoor sports arenas.

It is possible to gain fire resistance of structure with many methods: spray-applied, intumescent paint, and simple gypsum wall board. Intumescent is generally the most expensive and spray-applied is the most widely used.

Didn't someone post recently on one of the threads that cracks were discovered in the sheet rock from last year's upgrade?

You are correct. Zone Club ticket holders enter through a door just to the left of the west ticket windows and head straight onto two escalators

Almost every building on campus has cracks in sheet rock though

Heard they are not selling seats in the northeast corner due to sight lines, any truth to that?

They sold them last year with no issues

Sold them fine, but game after game they were empty. It's actually a pretty big faux pas in my opinion. Number two is the various issues with the SEZ (offices flooding and cracked sheet rock).

Yep, I've heard from some folks that the SEZ is a bit of a screw up.

Only fix for the NE corner that I could think of is make it similar to the loge boxes, where they have an elevated table in front of them.

So does this mean that the bouncing SEZ WASN'T planned for (because steel flexes or whatever reason people keep saying)? Having all those other problems makes it sound more like that wasn't a planned thing.

...or the flooding could be because drainage isn't working properly because construction is still ongoing (clogged drain, etc.)

I didn't have time to stop and get pictures today, but they are beginning to put windows up on the right half of the zone. I'm hoping to have a set Wednesday, but I have a busy week, so no promises

It was during the monsoon a couple weeks ago, looked like it came up one of the field tunnels meaning the field wasn't draining properly. I've looked at the drain in Spence Park, and there's a healthy amount of sand that's been washed out of the field, likely a blocked drain or a product of scrapping the field for construction.
