I can't confirm or refute, but I've heard nothing about a change order for a firing platform and never anticipated one getting built.

I haven't heard of any dislike of the current arrangement by fans, from a noise level issue. That would imply that a safety department or anti-PMC group would lobby to change what's now the status quo.

If you'd like I can ask around.
Thank you for your reply.

I was told this afternoon that no cannon-related structural accommodation of any kind is presently planned for the final KF build, which is consistent with the information you shared. The current feeling among the strongest supporters of a permanent, constructed location for the cannon in the stadium is now very negative.

To my knowledge, fans have never had a noise level issue. IMO, you are correct in suggesting the possibility of other parties lobbying to change the status quo. Their agenda is well-known and perhaps unfinished in their minds. The silencing of the PMC members and the Commandant on the issue is evidence of their power.

From the beginning, the building of a place for the cannon inside KF was in the hands of the KF Redevelopment committee, and the very public face of the project, John Sharp. If the will had been there, a way would have been found to showcase the cannon at KF instead of begrudgingly including it as an afterthought.

Thanks for your offer to "ask around." Many would like to see a definitive statement addressing the cannon's long-term role (and placement) in the Kyle Field game day experience. If the plan is to maintain the status quo indefinitely, let it be stated.

I was able to take a few pictures yesterday, but never got around to posting them. There may be duplicates in here, but I'm not entirely sure since I never fully went through the set.

Will the upper north zone have access from the northwest tower elevators?

If you mean escalators, then yes. The NE and NW towers will be tied in to the north zone.

I don't think Kyle Allen should be riding around on a skateboard. Seems like an unnecessary risk.

I hope this doesn't get categorized as a stupid question, but in some pictures I am noticing that the steel beams are different colors.

Is that purely due to time spent out in the elements, like rain and such, or are those different types of beams that serve a different purpose?

I am not trying to make the connection that the rusty beams won't be as sturdy I am just curious why some are different colors. Hopefully someone will be able to help me. Thanks.

How does 140 tons not break the ground?
140 tons = 280,000 lbs
x2 for load = 560,000
4000 psi concrete
140 square inches of concrete
1 square foot of concrete
2 Factor of safety
~2 square feet of concrete needed to hold up the weight

The area of the crane's tracks are more than 2 square feet, so all it needs is good conrete base and subbase. The compression force concrete can take is phenominal.

Steel that will be exposed to the elements is prepainted grey (towers and external concourses), whereas steel that is going to be internal after completion is uncoated. It will eventually be sprayed with a fire deterrent foam that adheres better to the untreated surfaces. The slight layer of rust formed over these couple of weeks will have no effect on the integrity of the steel.

If you study the pics you can see examples of all three.

Thanks. I figured it had something to do with that, but I wasn't sure. I find it really fascinating all of the subtleties that make up this project. Of course for someone in that field, I am sure they aren't subtleties. Thanks again.

What is the ventilation situation going to be like in the ramps with the new brick facade? It is going to be a steamy trip down from the top of the zone.

Anyone know if they plan to have some sort of public open house when all is said and done? It would be interesting to walk around and take pictures of the whole place, including the luxury suites where mere mortals normally don't tread.
