Those are just getting covered up.

The spiral ramps attached to the east decks were completely cut out last off season.

The ramps on the north side will be encased in brick paneling.

The ramps on the west side are coming down as part of the implosion.

If you look at the construction cams it looks like the explosives are attached on the upper supports on the west side. Someone needs to get some pics.

Finally started on demo of Section 111, and with it the last of the original arches. Pouring one for my (former) homies. Field's going to look a lot different from the top of the Zone.

Question for those in the know (Fitch): Will demo of the first deck stop at the end of the 1927 Era structure or will the northwest corner with the tunnel be torn down as well?

Gunna be tricky getting the second deck down without hurting the northwest corner if they don't take it out. Should be interesting to see. I bet they have to at least partially remove it.

To add to this question:

1.What are they doing to the field right now? looks like uncovering the drainage/irrigation? Is this so cranes don't destroy infrastructure under the surface?

2. Are they not going to remove the KYLE FIELD letters or the ATM from the back of the pressbox/elevator shaft? I would kill for that ATM.

AgCat93, I'm not 100% on the sequencing, but I suspect that the 1927 first deck structure will be totally removed prior to the implosion. A portion of the corner sections that abut the 1927 section will be removed as part of the renovation (and the NW tunnel removed and covered with seating) but that will probably be post-implosion. That's my bet at least given that they would probably want to preserve some of the footings around the Zone to keep there from being any shifts in the Zone's soil & structure while they have the collapse going on right next door.

Locogringo, 1.) laying down a base for the heavy equipment that will be rolling over the field through the next couple of months, which includes laying down a barrier to keep fuel, oil, etc from leaking into the drainage system that dumps into Spence park and on down into a city park. 2.) I doubt the cost of removal is worth it. Those letters are 20' tall too. Would be an awesome thing to own, though.

Can't believe some Ag in the crane business hasn't offered to remove them for free. I know the schedule wouldn't allow for a big crane to be there half a day but I feel like at 3 in the morning there might be time.

Not too much to see on the north side right now. The first picture is all of the brick that's been put up. Other than that, they've just added more blast tarps and been weakening parts on the west side. Sunday should be fun.
