OP: I have some institutional memory on this subject. As I recall, many years ago, an OP posted on seeing an Aggie basketball player at subway. A response asked about his hair and another response from the recruiting board came in asking about his ankles. The ankles deal originated from some inquiry/discussion on the meaning of thick/thin ankles in terms of athleticism and/or injury susceptibility. So, it's all a mashup of an OP stocking a player at Subway and two responses. At Texags, inside jokes make people feel extra cool.

Wdiss, I already explained this to you in an electronic mail message. Reggie McNeal was always an injury risk in the mind of TexAgs posters because of his small ankles. One time a person came on here and said that they'd seen him in person, and his ankles were REALLY small -- now it's a joke everytime you see a player in public to ask about his ankles.

As far as subway, someone once saw RC Slocum at the Subway on George Bush and commented on what he was eating. It became a thing.

Ankles came from a poster concerned that the circumference of Reggie's ankles spelled doom for him on the football field. It then became equivalent to today's "2/10 WNB" for football players.

I met RC Slocum in the Subway on George Bush in 2007. I don't remember what he ordered but struck up a conversation after I saw his giant Big 12-2-2+2 championship ring and realized it was him.

I'm pretty sure whatever it was, was at least a foot long and loaded with lots of class and friendliness.
