My t-sip bro-in-law is here for Turkeyday and naturally subject of football was the topic de jour. When I mentioned the likely hood of us playing each other in the Cotton Bowl he informed me that the tu powers that be have already determined they won't do it. In fact he said that Dodds had already cleared it with the Big 12 to turn down a Cotton Bowl vs A&M invite and would play in a lessor bowl.

As for how good this source is he is not one of the higher ups in tu football but he goes to church with a bunch of tu donors and his bro-in-law is a one of the biggest attorneys in Austin and a big time booster. So take the information as you will.

That would be glorious if Dodds had to publicly turn down a CB invite! CB should sue the Big 12 and tu for breach.

Now I actually hope we get them in the Cotton Bowl. The publicity of them turning down the invite would show tu's true colors to the rest of the nation.

No way they turn down a cotton bowl invite. I am going to put this in the false category. I wouldn't be surprised if some hotshot in the tu athletic dept told your friend that, but he was probably just talking out his ass.

No way they turn it down - PR momentum is heavily in our favor right now. Turning down the match up would only accelerate and ensure the completion of their present downfall.

I call bs. They're not stupid enough and couldn't take the national pr hit.

If they turn it down, they'll do it before the official offer comes. There won't be a public denial. No one will hear about it, but it will happen.

Their brand isn't doing very well right now. It would be a big mistake to be labeled %$(&^ by the Nat'l media. It won't be a move that is soon forgotten.

For these reasons as well as the contractual obligation between the Big 12 and Cotton Bowl, I say it will never happen.

Makes more sense for whorn to throw a game or 2 vs TCU/K-State that publicly turn down a Cotton Bowl offer vs A&M.

They don't have to turn it down. They can just lay the groundwork well in advance to not be selected. I'm sure Texas lite has some folks on the CB selection committee.

I'd expect there's some relationship between tu and the CB selection committee, and all it would take is a discreet "we're not interested this year" prior to the actual invite. If they don't want the game, it wont happen, but I don't think such a decline necessarily plays itself out publicly.
