not sure..I'll try to dig up the posts regarding this from a couple months ago and see what it said.

I've read most of the Johnny Football origin threads and he had the name during his senior season of high school, but no one knows where it started. One thread pointed toward a San Antonio sports guy for one of the local news tv channels as the possible originator of the nickname, but someone emailed him and he said he wasn't sure if he made it up or heard it from someone else first.

Johnny Manziel did.

Why does everyone have to screw with OP, just because he is asking an honest question?

"Johnny Football" is based on a constellation of passages from Les Prophites (i.e. Nostradamus). But, the queers (aka soccer fans) in France misinterpreted the phraseology and kept looking around for someone named "Jean-Florian Soccer."

I'm not saying Nostradamus really predicted the rise of Johnny Football, but it's a funny story because the nickname just so happens to fit some old prophecy that a bunch of idiots in Europe were so excited about (and of course wasted their lives watching soccer).
