I agree. Against Bama I see a lot of drives that stall in field goal territory and we have GOT to convert those into at least some points if we want to have any chance. If we leave points on the field Bama will make us pay. There is a significant chance Bertolet's inconsistency will directly cost us the game.

It doesn't make sense that there's NOTHING we can do. Why aren't others asking Sumlin about this in press conferences or whatnot?

Kicker being our biggest weakness.

This season has gone way different than I expected.

I keep hearing this argument. What are people seeing in this kid that makes them confident in a positive turnaround? Not only is he inaccurate left and right, he also kicks WAY too low. It's not surprising when his kicks get blocked. You can't blame the line. Did you see one of his short conversions this week squeak over the upright?

On a serious note, if you're in the camp that sees upside in this kid in a year or two, what are you seeing that gives you this expectation? Unfortunately for Bertolet, kickers don't get that sort of time to develop. Time to move on.... I think. Would love to hear some serious responses from those in the Bertolet 2014 camp.

We will need to go for it on 4th down instead of attempting field goals. The chances of us converting will be greater than Bertolet kicking a good one.

This offense is TOO GOOD to risk wasting a drive on a sub par kicker.

Yes, Bullock struggled his SECOND year, but not nearly as bad as what we're seeing from Bertolet. And Bullock also demonstrated ability his first year.

Honestly, kicking is so mental that we should attempt to be more positive about the situation. It is truly our only option currently. Thread after thread talking about how much he sucks is only going to worsen the situation.

He is what he is and he is our best. The reality is that in 2 years or so I bet the kid is lights out as a field goal kicker. It sucks that he isnt as good as he needs to be right now, but if we had better options they would play.

Line up on left hash, definitely try to kick across your body.

We didn't offer him a 4 year scholly, he is a Pennsylvania kid I think so no head coaches in Texas on the high school level would have their feelings hurt.

But until then, I vote we go for two every time. 50% conversion rate and we're no worse off. As far as field goals, if it's 7 yards or fewer to a first down, go for it every time. Every now and then we'll still have to risk it though.

I have a friend in a class with him. After the LSU game the prof commented on the loss and everyone in the class blew up talking about how Bertolet sucks. They didn't realize he was in there until the prof pointed it out.

That has to be getting to his head.

Actually, it's very close to Bertolet's current performance.

Bertolet will kick the game winner against Alabama. I have confidence that he will be up to the task.

You should, too.

Please stop the comparisons with Bullock....nothing guarantees that he will turn out like Bullock!

It feels like all the misses have gone to his head. Sumlin keeps throwin him out there to try and get him some confidence, but I'd rather go for it on 4th and 5 against Bama than attempt a 38 yard field goal with him next week.
