I remember that game. Beautiful weather. The Cotton Bowl was 85-90% A&M. We were exorcising years of pent up frustration.
There was an Auburn family just in front of us. They were blown away by The Spirit, pre-game. After it, the father turned and looked me, saying, "I've got to admit. That was impressive."
It was.
That team was great too. We had one of the best defenses and best offenses in the nation. I remember the offense was the most balanced we ever had, averaging a little over 200 YPG passing and a little over 200 YPG running. Around 2/3rds of the calls were runs.
I never doubted we would win the game. I was a little surprised how well the D contained Bo Jackson. He escaped once and torched us, but was otherwise held in check. It was a crime that he was made the game's MVP instead of Kevin Murray.
Let's hope we repeat this performance in their house. Gig 'Em.
