Sometimes it's difficult to survive here in the Big 10 country of Indiana. But this morning I sent out the following email to about half dozen fellow football fans.
Well, one of the IU guys ("Eric") just couldn't live with that and decided to play the Randle El card with the following reply:
I just couldn't let that go and sent him the following response:
Of course letting go isn't just in the law firm dialogue nature, so Eric responded with his own impressive stat:
I then fired back with the following:

A&M freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel (aka "SuperManziel") does it all. Sometimes the legend grows even on plays that were not really plays.
With the Aggies trying to punch it in from the two yard line it appears Aggie running back Christian Michael fumbles. A Louisiana Tech player comes out of the pile running the other direction. Manziel chases him down 60 yards later and tackles him, forcing him to fumble, another La Tech player picks up the fumble, and starts to run, and Manziel tackles him too. That's right, our quarterback (did I mention he's a freshman?) tackled two guys on the play. The ultimate irony is the whole thing was nullified as the refs ruled Michael was down on the 1 yard line. Manziel would score two plays later on a naked bootleg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO8miZNzyIQ
I'm telling you, when Felix Bumgarten skydived from space yesterday, I'm surprised Johnny Manziel didn't catch him.
As a freshman Manziel is #2 in the nation in total offense. http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/natlRank.jsp?year=2012&rpt=IA_playertotoff&site=org&div=IA&dest=O
He's #10 in passing efficiency. http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/natlRank.jsp?year=2012&rpt=IA_playerpasseff&site=org&div=IA&dest=O
He averages 113 yards rushing per game (and that's counting sacks against him).
Did I mention he's a freshman?

I just couldn't let that go and sent him the following response:

Dude, on Saturday Manziel broke the SEC record for total yards accounted for. Who held the record prior to that? Manziel did from two weeks earlier against Arkansas. Yes, he broke his own SEC record. Who held the record prior to Manziel breaking it twice in three games as a Freshman? Archie Manning way back in 1969.
He also just became the first player in SEC history to have two 500+ total yards accounted for games in a single season, and oh by the way, there's still six more games to play. He's on track to beat the total yards accounted for record set by Cam Newton. Did I mention he's a freshman? These aren't freshman records I'm talking about here, I'm talking all class records. Tell you what, let's compare Mr. El's stats in his first six games of his career against those of Johnny SuperManziel.
Here's some highlights from his first four games, doesn't even include the last two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSnT2C27o3I
Of course letting go isn't just in the law firm dialogue nature, so Eric responded with his own impressive stat:
quote:
In Randle El's first college game.
22 of 29 passing attempts for 385 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions, as well as rushing for 82 yards on 23 carries for three touchdowns. The Hoosiers would go on to win the game, 45-30, with Randle El's 467 yards breaking the NCAA freshman total offense record in his first collegiate game
I then fired back with the following:
quote:
Well there you go, while your guy was breaking Freshman records, my guy is breaking overall conference and NCAA records. Oh, and Manziel has had two games already beating those 467 yards of El. Oh and while your guy was setting that record against the MAC doormat (snicker) Western Michigan Broncos (double snicker) Manziel was breaking that 467 yards, by nearly 100 yards, against the SEC's Arkansas.
By the way, Manziel is the only player in NCAA history to pass for more than 450 yards and run for more than 100 yards in the same game.
