And if that should be repeated.

Gaytor fans were posting on their fan forum sites that it looked like we were waving the surrender flags. I assume because we had so many cadets waving the white towel, it is universally recognized as a sign of capitulation.

If you are asking if it was intimidating, then the answer is no.

Was it motivating? I don't know. I will have to ask some of the people closer to the players to find out.

They certainly helped wipe away the tears of disappointment after the defeat.

Maybe Not --

The first quarter the announcers commented on the wind patterns being abnormal on the field. Maybe thats how we neutralize the passing game.

Reading the white towel surrender comments made by Gaytors made me wonder why we don't use maroon towels instead. I am sure it is based on cost but waving any white cloth makes it look like we are surrendering. I say take no quarters and wave the proud maroon towel!

maroon towels look dumb...especially when the optics of maroon being twirled in front of a dark background (stands, clothing, shadows, etc). It doesnt have the same effect.

Repeated? No...everyone should have their 12th Man towels every game. Period. If you're getting bent out of shape about what gator fans are saying about our towels then you're an idiot. Maybe the 12th Man should try not completely disappearing after halftime. It was disgustingly lame how placid the 12th Man was the entire second half. I don't care if they're not moving the ball. Yell. Make noise. Act like you care. The team took a nose dive in the second half, but that doesn't mean the 12th Man has to give up. Pathetic yesterday. Pathetic.

Maybe we should stop focusing on what other fans say about our towels. I doubt maroon towels would show up at all.

Do the towels make any noise?

There's your answer.

We did use maroon towels last year for the wildfire game... They were definitely less noticeable.

I think the bigger issue was that the FTAB did not form a block T prior to running off the field... The SEC was nice but we shoulda marched into block T and then break...

If we shouldn't care about what others think about us then why are we making goofy SEC videos, adding fictitious conference championships, playing hip hoppity Snoop Doggy music to our entrance, putting up billboards in Florida and Austin, and I can go on and on.

All I meant was that waving a white cloth is a universal sign of surrendering. I believe minus the Steelers yellor towels, waving towels in general is silly and does nothing but that is just my opinion. We need Kyle to be loud and proud.

vLA - we'be been waving those towels for over 20 years now... It is Aggie - be proud man, don't hate.

White is also our school color in case you didn't know.

Yes it was the towels and fans that lost the game, not the coaches and players.

So one school makes a joke about how the white towels symbolize our surrender and all of a sudden the towels are dumb? Just making sure I read that right

I am sorry. I know it is tradition and I still have about a dozen of them from back in the day with some having sponsor logos.

I guess what I am saying is that the towels were more for motivating the 12th Man to be loud and proud but now days it seems like it has no effect. I don't believe it ever had a huge impact on the players but the noise it created among the 12th Man was what gave the team additional points for the game in key situations.

I may have been out of line for thinking outside the box but with all the other changes with the new Swag Regime, I thought maroon towels would work better. I was wrong obviously. I am sorry.

Tango got it right. No noise compared to the noise that could be made by clapping hands. Towels are great visuals; the l Tradition is a minor boon to textile manufacturers and sellers of Aggie equipage. End of story.

During the Drum Roll March In before the game, I wondered why the Towel Wavers didn't stop waving to the beat and clap? Think of what it would have sounded like with another twenty thousand hands clapping to the Cadence!?

Thanks OP for raising this issue.

And, I don't care what another school thinks. I am talking about impact. Another school criticizing a Tradition should not be used as an excuse to keep one!

Not just that, but a school we raped last year and made their "Heisman winner" look like 2nd string scrub.

impact on what? wind speed in the stadium?

Maybe the towels helped, maybe they didn't. In any event, they wouldn't have anywhere near the effect on the outcome of a season that a well crafted post on TexAgs has. Let's stick to what we know, people!
