He's giving "friendly" advice - that sounds like legal.

I too thought part 91 rules when I read this. There are many pilots and maybe even FAA people on this board. I personally think its cool you are doing this (I've given a few rides to CS myself), just be careful!

I would like to go on the record officially and say that I love the FAA.

Polish: Thanks for confirming I'm not paranoid. Professionals like to protect their turf...including professional pilots.

AgPilot: Just as attorneys like to protect their turf; charter operators/pilots are even more protective of their ability to charge for flights that others cannot. And reasonably so I might add. Just know that posting on a well-read board is likely to bring them out of the woodwork; so review what you learned in your books and consult an attorney if anything is not clear. I bet Polish would be more than willing to let you pay him $400/hr to research and learn the law. And reasonably so I might add.

and....the part about "food and DRINK provided. My advice is not to drink any liquid while in the plane or shortly before take off. Taking a whiz in a 182 isn't easy and somewhat offputting for the other three occupants. Oh, and go to the bathroom before take off whether you need to or not.

Harley,

Thanks for the good advice. Just so everyone knows, I charge less than half my expenses any time I take anyone flying. It is well documented through the FBO I fly out of what my exact costs are. My costs are much higher but I charge a cheap rate just to help out a little with my expenses. I want to give fellow aggies a great experience and not take anyone to the bank. I am never making a profit financially. The profit for me is someone having a good time flying and maybe getting interested in aviation AND saving an aggie or two from the headache of driving.

Excellent... especially through hurricanes

I will cancel a flight in a heartbeat if I don't like the weather forecast.

AgPilot98, I can't go to LaTech due to work, but I may take you up on one of the home games. Do you usually have spots available?

No worries on the rules with me. Just getting a ride from an Aggie buddy and I'll be chipping in for fuel as far I'm concerned. Judging from your handle, we're the same year. Hope to be in touch soon.

I've moved away from the bottle (they aren't big enough volume for me!) and moved on to 1 gallon ziploc bags with a few diapers thrown in there...works great, and doesn't take up space until you use them.

AgPilot98, wise advice to be careful about how you find your additional pax and share expenses. Doing so on a forum like this might get some folks on your case.

I've done the same thing many times, but pax were friends, and in fact I might be bringing an extra pair to Oxford from Wichita this year.

Is that you SS??

I'll probably have a near full load going to Oxford this year as well.

Cool Aero95. I need a current email on you if you still have mine.

I'll be leaving out of N Fort Worth for Oxford (and Shreveport for that matter) but I have a full load.

First post ever. I've been a lurker for a long time and it took an aviation post to bring me into the fray. I'm class of '10 and I'm training out of David Wayne Hooks right now. Currently 200 hours with my commercial instrument multi. As long as you aren't paying more than your pro-rata share (even share per person for the non-FAA-indoctrinated) then you shouldn't be on the FAA's bad side. That's my basic understanding FWIW.

AgPilot98 do you happen to be going to the Ole Miss game?

I am going to Ole Miss, but on a commercial flight - further destinations not as practical in a single engine plane (between weather & time of flight)

Only flying to Shreveport & Dallas (both flights full) and all home games (home games have some openings though). Commercial flights for all other away games.
