Thank you for you words, some nice and not so nice. I'll try to incorporate some elements you have described, and hopefully have some updated images up soon. Remember, I did this in my spare time, something I won't have much of coming up soon. I will try to answer some questions with this post, however.
-Kceovaisnt: I appreciate your constructive criticism. I did draw some from your original design, especially the angled east/west decks. I did make the angles further out, though. I wanted to use inspiration while still trying to keep the design mostly original to myself (even if that is nearly impossible with any kind of creative work) you bring up some good questions, which I should be able to fix fairly easily.
- as far as the corners are concerned, I left them open for air flow. Kyle field is a sweat box already, and I hope the architects recognize airflow as a legitimate concern. Remember Fresno state? I've roasted every Saturday afternoon home game, and even the slight breeze is relief. Although a little noise would be gained by completely closing the corners, I don't believe it is enough to close off any sort of breeze from getting in. Even still, in this design, the gaps in the corners are smaller and there are screens allowing for more reverberation of crowd noise. Most is lost through the open endzone anyways, which is remedied in this particular design.
- I don't get the infatuation with the zone. Personally, I don't think it looks that great, plus it's 60% nosebleed. Not to mention you can see Sputnik from the top. Most stadiums have differences in sideline and endzone architecture. Some even between the endzones. Ohio stadium, Ben hill griffin, LSU tiger stadium, and the colliseum are fairly lopsided when it comes to endzone architecture, but few would argue they are some I the best places to watch a game. From purely a design element, all but tiger stadium are considered some of the best looking stadiums in the nation. Even tiger stadium doesnt look that bad with recent upgrades But I guess it's relative to the beholder. I left the south zone as one deck as a base for future expansion. As awesome as it would be to have a 110+ capacity stadium, right now, there isn't quite the demand to fill up on a regular basis. That will come with university growth and winning once the newness of the sec wears off. Righ now, however, I think it's just too much for the current demand.
-I did not think the domes would get this big of a response. I wanted something architecturally unique to Kyle that linked it with other landmarks on campus, namely academic building for the domes. I feel the general response is that they are uneseccessary, so I'll take them out with the next render.
-with the parking lot, I think it would be great to bring more tailgating closer to the stadium, which is why I expanded freedom park. I didn't show the existing parking next to the Reed building, but with the impending demolition of g. Rolly more parking could be added in its place to relieve the loss of parking in the west.
I'm not quite sure I follow some of the thoughts on expansion of the suites. My render nearly doubles the amount of suites having them wrap around to east stands. I understand they are the moneymaker as opposed to normal tickets, but I'm not quite sure where to add them. I'll see what I can do, but I dot want to place them between 1st and 2nd deck as some have stated, as that would be a single, wrap around concourse. I do have some Ideas for the interior of the suites that I can hopefully get up soon.
I appreciate the comments and I'll try to make some changes and get something up soon for y'all, but it may be awhile. I'm about to lose a lot of my free time.
ETA: thanks nowitchoke and garlandag for posting pictures.
Edited again to add: it's not clear in the pictures, but spirit of '02 is on the field nestled towards the south east field level entrance. I thought about putting it on a platform in the south endzone, but without a sound wall, or handing everyone in the section ear plugs, I'm not sure how safe that would be.
