Sherm, but he injured his shoulder - badly - in Fall ball right before the start of the season, and opted NOT to have surgery which would've ended his season before it began. He ended up playing a very little bit toward the end, but clearly was not his former self throwing-wise. Mike Leach then made derogatory comments about the situation after Dallas drafted him 1st player in the 4th Round, saying, "Apparently, the Dallas Cowboys liked Stephen McGee more than Texas A&M did!" I can't remember the exact wording of Sherm's response, but it was classy in a way that also exposed Leach for the d(@khead he was, and was a general embarrassment to Texas Tech.

Franchione ruined McGee like McNeal. But at least McGee ended up in dallas in the NFL instead of face punched in downtown houston.

McGee hurt his shoulder going into his big senior season and was replaced by a promising young backup Jerrod Johnson.

Jerrod Johnson had an exciting year and was going into a promising senior season when he hurt his shoulder and was replaced by his promising backup Ryan Tannehill.
