I like hope. I love hope. I like Tebow. I like saint Matthew, the tax collector. A story of a right arsehole turned gospel-writer.

I don't like people who point guns at people and take their stuff. I don't see the hope there besides "gee, I hope he can function in society despite proving that he cannot".

I suppose your line cuts away St. Paul, the slayer of Christians. Whatever gives you peace.

Persecution and common thuggery aren't really in the same ballpark, but...whatever you want to cling to.

Title of the thread: Yemi Babalola paid his debt to society

I know "paying a debt to society" is the common lingo for going to jail, but this is not "paying a debt".

A crime was committed, peoples lives (victim, convicted, relatives on both sides) were altered forever. The taxpayers had to pay a large sum of money to imprison the convicted. The only way to "pay the debt" to society is for the convicted to find a way to make extremely positive productive use of the remainder of their life out in the real-world.

Simply put, I hate the phrase "paid his debt to society" as it implies that there is balance. Bullcrap! Still a huge imbalance and the convicted has not even begun to set things right.
