According to scouts.com and espn insider, they're anticipating Tannehill being 2nd best NFL prospect behind Luck?

I know he's good, but THAT good? Hope he continues to impress the powers that be in the media.

I think he might be, but there's considerable drop off behind Luck to everyone else. He may be the best NFL prospect since 1998.

if vince young can go #3 in the draft then yes, anything can happen.

This goes back to what I was saying about you missing him on the other thread.

He's got the size. He has a strong arm. He's accurate. He generally seems to make good decisions. And he keeps plays alive.

Hes going to be an NFL qb. And probably better than average there, too.

He's going to have to light up the sky's against the land thieves and the rest of the year for that matter....

AND some rushing touchdowns wouldn't hurt either

He is succeeding in a pro-style offense.

The cross field throws are what seem to impress the announcers. They are stong and accurate.

Is major negative is experience. It seems like he just started playing, weird to think of him being a pro.

He seems to be pretty good at going through his progressions in a pro style offense. That makes the scouts salivate.

Think we can expect him to be around the 5th QB, which this year prob late 2nd roundish

Luck
Barkley
Landry jones
Tanny
RGIII
Foles

Did anyone else think some of his sideline throws on the out routes Fuller kept running look like they would have been broken up or picked by better corners?

Other than that, thought he played damn near flawless.

Yeh I was concerned about those routes being jumped. Unless Fuller can get well and stretch the field, the CB and take the chance and have help behind. If I was an opposing coach I would be looking to take one of those to the house. Hope I am wrong.

What's impressive about him is the potential. He has all the measurables, the mobility, the arm and the smarts. Fairly accurate and decent game manager. However, I think the real kicker is that he's gotten so many fewer snaps than the typical SR QB. He's got a higher ceiling based on that imo. I could see him riding an NFL bench for a few years and then becoming a really good starter.

Theo, disagree about how much he means. This isn't his team. He's good and there will be a dropoff, but it's not near what you're thinking.

NFLDraftScout/CBSSports has him as the 4th best QB prospect. so late 1st round or 2nd rounder maybe?

What the NFL will like about Tanny is his size. Compare him to Phil Rivers or Peyton Manning. They are nearly identical in stature (Tanny is one inch shorter than both). RGIII's drawback, one of few, is he is only 6'2". With NFL linemen getting taller every year, short QBs are on the way out.

EDIT: I should note that Andrew Luck is nearly identical to Tanny as well. He weighs a few more pounds.

He is not near Luck and Jones, and has not thrown the ball down the field like RG3.

How is Barkley getting props? Every game I've seen of his he sucks

RG3 isn't going to be drafted high - he's way too frail for the NFL. The guy from Wisconsin could be though. And Tanny needs to play well the rest of the year, especially in big games lie against ou, tu and bowl game, if he's going to go high. That 3rd Q drought stuff we had sucked and looks bad on him right now.

that could actually work to his advantage....lack of experience means he still has room to grow and improve....

so if scouts are liking what they're seeing from an inexperienced QB...think about how good he'll be once he has the experience....

basically...still a "raw talent"

They don't care about college experience. They care about size, and arm strength. Besides, Tannehill is getting more NFL style experience right now than anybody running that high school spread air raid drill. When Vince Young started having problems, it was noted that all he ever ran was a shotgun spread and threw to the first receiver. That doesn't play in the NFL.

Announcers this weekend compared him to Landry Jones, BUT more athletic. I agree with that assessment. Middle to late first rounder. Some team will take him that early. A ton of upside to him!

If he's a legit top 5 qb and I think he is, then he means a lot to you guys. If you want to win 8 or 9 games maybe not. You want a special season? Yes.

Maybe Showers comes in and is even better. Who knows.

How can anybody be drafted ahead of RG 3. Are they playing football?

He does not have NFL accuracy on his deep throws. Maybe that will improve.... I know McGee's accuracy was bullcrap when he threw it deep most of the time but he looks a lot better in the NFL than he did here.

What I read is that the main drawback of Tanny is his accuracy hitting a receiver on the long ball. I think he definitely has that ability but it's just not something he asked to do very often by Sherman. Scouts were also giving him major props for not just tucking and running when he leaves the pocket but continues looking for a receiver to open up down field.

Yes, I too noticed Tannehill's poor accuracy when Swope got behind the defense, Tanny had already looked to two other receivers, and then hit Swope in stride 30+ yards down the field.

That really sucked.

This team will likely be a run first team next year, especially if CM stays.

The o-line is still going to be here.

rg3 has a lot of talent but will not last a full NFL season as a starter imo. He is just not durable enough to take that sort of enduring beating.

Four QB's were taken in the top 15 picks in this past draft. That includes Jake Locker and Christian Ponder both of who were taking higher than projected. If this years draft is any indication of last years, then he could go in the first round.

Wow, he throws one accurate deep ball and I guess now he is the next Tom Brady. He's thrown a bunch of uncatchable deep balls this year. I'm a fan of the guy but just pointing out a difference between what I see on Saturdays watching A&M and what I see on Sundays.

If he puts up big numbers in big games(and wins) in the national spotlight when it counts..I can see it happening. With that happening the other players surrounding him look good and will do better in the draft too.

**edit for really bad spelling

+1 for sex panther

I see him going third or fourth. Probably early second round. There is still a lot of potential there. If the colts don't suck enough to get Luck, it would be awesome to see him grow and learn from Manning.
