Doubt it since the other 8 will stay together and supposedly BYU is coming in as well as WVU, UofL.

If the big east was smart, they would start poaching the big12.

baylor and isu would leave in heartbeat. They have almost been without a home twice in the last two years.

I would bet the SEC won't accept Mizzou's application if they believe Failure will subsequently sue.

I believe Failure will sue only if the B12 goes belly up and they're demoted to the Southland or some such conference.

IMHO...Mizzou had better hope That their leaving the B12 doesn't cause the B12 to crumble...and I'll bet they find themselves in the same waiting game we were in...ie waiting to see what happens to the B12 before the SEC accepts

Misery going nowhere. They want to feel significant. Did it with B1G last year and got throttled. Screw misery.

The big12 won't crumble immediately.

It will just wither and die on the vine.

I think Baylor threatened to sue to slow down OU. We weren't the big prize, OU was. At this point, we're clear and I'm happy.

The humorous part is this just pisses OU off more.

Yep, Boren really looks like a dufus.

ou to PAC 12 - turned down.

Boren upstages the mizzou Chancellor with his press conference boasting about ou "saving" the Big 12. (Oh, BTW, all that PAC 12 stuff was just a bluff to help save the Big 12.)

Now Mizzou leaves, making the Big 12 even MORE unstable.

Will BYU join up now? Who else is dumb enough to sign on?

The Big 12 needs FOUR teams now to be viable (forget the Dodds "10 is good" BS).

Big 12 loses Neb, CU, A&M, and now Mizzou.

If they are lucky enough to get back to 12 teams, EVERY new team will be less than the the four who have left.

"baylor" should be added to the banned word list on TexAgs. ****** can do whatever they want at this point as far as I'm concerned.

No, they have a conference now that will pay for their stuff, so they don't need to sue.

Let OU and t.u pay for their athletics program. We won't give them another dime after this year.

Looked at Baylorfans and there are numerous threads supporting a "massive" suit against sec by Baylor .....

It 's what bailure does when it can't compete.
New cheer for the bailure line? 2-4-6 - 8 who does bailure litigate?

Doubt Baylor could sue anybody but the SEC.
And Slive is a very crafty lawyer, himself.
If he's extended an offer to Mizzou, then that means he's thought this all out and considered all the ramifications of it and doesn't anticipate it being a big problem.

Yes, Baylor might try to sue the SEC, but even if they won, it wouldn't bring Mizzou or A&M back and if the Big 12 disbands, it wouldn't put that conference back together again.

The best they could hope for would be damages of some sort and Slive would make sure it drug out in legal limbo for years in the courts.
By the time anything was decided, nobody but Baylor and Slive would even remember what it was all about. They might get a little money, but it wouldn't help them a bit!

The SEC got past their concern over a possible Baylor suit, period. They finally confirmed what many or most already knew, that the merits of a Baylor suit were not there. Either that or they decided that getting A&M and the Texas tv market was more than worth the risk (i.e., grew a pair).

The bottom line in reality and legally is that if the Bigtu breaks apart, NU and CU are as much responsible as A&M and MU. The freedom of a school to leave by following the withdrawal protocol in the bylaws is not eliminated or reduced by prior exits, even if that withdrawal ends up being the critical mass. Any defendant to a Baylor suit would soon name NU and CU as contributing 3rd parties and Baylor would then have to also sue them to preserve rights to their money. Bottom line is a Baylor suit for damages due to break up of the conf has no merit.

faylor has royally screwed up. They got nothing from their threatening except a guarantee that no other conference will ever invite them to join. They're a perfect match with tu: The Liar and Litigator League.

The Big12 doesnt fall apart if Mizzou leaves.
It really doesn't matter who leaves, aside from OU and tu. As long as the two of them are holding hands, the Big12 continues, with Tech and OSU beside them. The other teams can be fleshed out with any number of smaller, non threatening schools who won't get the recruits OU and tu would and who'll step in line when told to.

From the BIG 8 to the Big XII back down to the BIG 8 minus the media footprint......

Hmmmm media contract deal is going to be awesome Bet Fox pulls out real quick unless they add atleast 2 teams in new media markets.

t.u. will bring in the 4 old SWC schools to round out the conference. They will broadcast their games on the LHN and force the alumni of UH, BU, Rice, SMU, TT, & TCU to subscribe to their network in order to see their games on TV. It will help expand their network.
