There won't be a permanent opponent until SEC 14 is in the fold.

IF MU is #14, Auburn goes east and these are the pairings:
AU-Bama
A&M-UGa
MU-Tenn

IF the #14 comes into the east A&M is matched with #14.

After #14 is announced, expect a nine game schedule with 7 permanent opponents (6 west div and 1 east div) and two rotating east opponents on a six year full cycle rotation.

Some of you SEC rooks need to learn to read and understand a whole thread before you get all indignant about the new guy coming in and changing things around to suit themselves.

The OP is a LSU fan and most of the schedule and rivalry game arguments are between fans of different SEC schools with the A&M fans watching the fireworks.

Some of the SEC fans aren't exactly making the best impression here. We expect more from our new conference mates than we did from the sooners and sips, not to mention the beartards. Tech gets a pass here because of the way their fans have handled the conference affiliation situation.

For an example of how to act like an ass just reference gottalove and mjones posts, apparently a sip and beartard, respectively. Don't be "that" guy SEC fan.

Also, we have our share of morans (the "moran" meme IS everywhere, isn't it? Or do we on TexAgs just think it is?) on here, but I think the vast majority of Aggies (here and elsewhere) know that we're the new kid and we need to accommodate y'all and not the other way. Please treat any of us who do suggest ridiculous schedule changes with a kindly pat on the head and a "you know nothing of such things" -- because we don't.

Moving Auburn would still work because we would become part of a big "7" soon enough and the divisions won't be that imbalanced.

The 14th team will come for the East so this is all pointless. The only question is how they piecemail together a schedule for a year or two.

Still a problem because Bama has two rivals (let this sink in), Auburn and UT.

Bama needs to give up the annual UT game so the league scheduling can be fair and make sense.

Well, I leave this up to the SEC commish to make these decisions. I am certain whatever they come up with, the core rivaries will be preserved one way or another. It is my hope that they do keep them intact.

Would like to see you become part of a "big 7", really! Right now we have no idea when #14 comes along and can only speculate on who it will be. My personal hope is that whoever it is would then become part of the "big 8".

I am a little concerned about getting to 14 without disrupting what we already have and I think everyone else should be as well. Everyone should stop worrying about what's best for themselves and think about the conference as a whole.

Well, hopefully the SEC will get #14 soon, and place them in the east, this all this becomes moot. The order in place now can still stand without much rumbling and grumbling.

Sam, I honestly do not see the annual Tennessee / Bama game being given up by either party. That is one of the oldest rivalries in the SEC, with UGA / Auburn. Ain't happening, I don't think.

I vote YES to Florida being our permanent rival.

There is no "fair" way to create a schedule with 13 teams. There is also no need to give A&M a permanent rival right now. We have no tradition to preserve. Any intense rivalry will be with one or more West schools.

My preference would be for us to play three East schools in '12 and the other three in '13. After that we could just do a home and home with three East schools each year.

Can we please quit this talk of doing away with the Bama/UT & UGA/barn game? Those games aren't going away. I hate that LSU and UF don't like having to play each other every year. Now could the SEC make an exception of those two rivalries and free up all the other cross-divisional game, I guess that might be an option (although I seriously doubt it). But anyone arguing that those two games will stop being played every year needs to quit sniffing glue.

I think Florida vs A&M would be a great game! Florida is a fun game anyway! I love it when we play the gayturds!
Their fans are nuts but we all are & the Swamp is fun...especially when u beat 'Em!

I am sure Slive will work all this out while preserving all the sacred rivalries...too much $ to be lost if you don't!

well, bama since sam seems to be the main proponent of breaking up bama/UT maybe he got a little too much mustard with his last corndog and it is making him irritable.

If LSU loses Florida as its permanent East Rival, I'm gonna be some kinda pissed.

If two SEC schools are forced to give up their cross-division rivalries, they all should.

I know some LSU fans think we get the shaft by having to play Bama, UF, and AU every year, but look back at our records the past decade and tell me how that has hurt us in the slightest.


If anything, it has given us some of the best games I've ever witnessed.

FWIW -

SEC13 won't last but a year, maybe two. If just one year (2012), Aggies in the West. If a second year (2013), Aggies in the East. All schools would then play A&M within first two years, and the lopsidedness would be in the West the first year and in the East in the second year.

It seems weird, until you realize that Mizzou isn't that far from East teams UK, Vandy, and UT. It works even better if Arky is Mizzou's permanent cross-rival, with South Carolina switching from Arky to be A&M's permanent cross-rival. None of the current SEC division assignments would change, and none of the other cross-rivalries would have to change. Don't like that? See this:

I don't think there will be a permanent East opponent. Florida doesn't have one from the west. Arkansas and LSU are in the West. The West are tough enough. I would love to play Florida every year but I think it will shift around.

SEC's identity is not The Vols play Bama on the third Saturday in October.

Time for you guys to get over yourselves and do what's best for the conference.

You'll see..that's why we get so pissed when people like Boise St say that we only schedule "cupcakes" for Ooc games! Why the h#LL wouldn't we? We play the toughest teams in conference! Stupid Freakin Broncos...heck Bama plays Michigan at Jerrys World for our opening game next year!

sorry for the confusion - on the Mizzou2sec site it lets you put auburn in the east in one version and mizzou in the east in the other - the latter of which I prefer

You've you fistfight with Florida every year..and your in state with Vanderbilt. Make do with that.

Additionally, Bama has their Iron Bowl. I can see protecting one 'tradtional game" but you people want us to protect four five or six of them....meanwhile, LSU and Florida, where thers is really no history to speak of, get to beat the hell out of each other every year..and Vanderbilt gets to beat Ole Miss every yeaR

Addtionally, I have to wait and extra two years for UGA to come our our schedule...or SouCar for a trip to Columbia.

If this game is so important to you..move Auburn and Bama to the east and ship vandy and Kentucky to the west. That seems fair to me.
