More pi$$orange revisionist arrogant, overly self-important history. TAMU, and UT were to follow Arkansas into the SEC. TAMU/UT did not think they could navigate the politics, so they wanted Arkansas to go first in an attempt to provide cover for leaving themselves, and leaving the rest of the Texas schools behind. But Richards got in the middle of that plan. Arkansas was a primary traget for many reason't. Frank Broyles grew up in Georgia, played at G-Tech and spent much time in the SE, so he could travel freely without drawing attention. Frank Broyles had done color commentary for college football on TV for MANY years, and had the contacts to guage TV interest for the expansion of the SEC and a championship game. That interest was far greater than anyone expected at the time. Lastly, Arkansas, TAMU, and UT were the only schools that weren't going broke in the SWC, and all three had good years in football, so the SEC wanted ALL THREE. But it was Arkansas that was primary and on the point due to Frank Broyles, and Texas state politics.
Anything else you hear is just so much troll bullstuff, AND the fact that they know UT is having to lie in a bed of their own making, and it's pretty stinky, and not looking good at all. They are scared, have not doubt about that.
