What I find interesting is the official approached them on Thursday (AFTER beeber's said the HS games were on hold). A&M brass take notice, they are lying to us to try and keep us as their lapdog.

Why the interest in Austin High, Westwood and Lake Travis?

Lake Travis has won four straight state championships and four current Longhorns - quarterback Garrett Gilbert, offensive linemen Paden Kelley and Taylor Doyle and wide receiver Cade McCrary - are former Cavaliers. Austin High wide receiver Cayleb Jones has verbally committed to the University of Texas and Westwood wide receiver Desmond Wyatt is the son of Texas wide receivers coach Darrell Wyatt.

On Tuesday, a Bryan television station reported that Brenham High agreed last week to have its Sept. 1 game against Lamar Consolidated televised on the Longhorn Network. Brenham has two players on its defense - defensive tackle Malcom Brown and linebacker Timothy Cole - who have given verbal commitments to Texas and two offensive players - offensive lineman Adrian Bellard and running back Troy Green - who have committed to Texas A&M.

This is what they will do. Push, push, push. Actually, I like the obvious overreach here. Severely hampers the "trial balloon" argument that Dave Brown was speaking out of school, and of course this is not about recruiting at all.

Lake Travis? Westlake? Austin High? The Midland Lees and Permians of the current HS football scene.

I have to think that part of their strategy is to drive a wedge between the other Big 12-2 schools and the high school coaches. The more HS teams they approach now, the better (for them). That way, even if the Big 12-2 stops them from broadcasting HS games, they can tell the coaches, "Look, we wanted to put your team on t.v., but those guys stopped us."

Wow. Just wow.

If our leaders needed anymore ammo against the conference.

The conference says no to the HS games and cowtv announces more HS games.

Also, if with the B10 and other big conferences initially against HS games, the NCAA ruling on it will be very interesting.

This is also a big **** you to ou, since there president came out explicitly against HS games being on cowtv.

Except most coaches are not idiots. I doubt the guys who coach six man football think cowtv is going to approach them anytime soon. The coaches know the game is being played.

Only certain (and obvious) teams are being pursued by cowtv. They have not proposed a game yet that doesn't feature a cow recruit.

That's okay tu-espn doesn't give two ****s about coaches schools unless you have a recruit they want.

But if you do, mack will bring over the contract himself to get signed.

Well it is obvious this is not just an attempt to get HS football onto TV sets.

I do not think they have proposed a game yet that did not involve longhorn recruits.

At some point, HS coaches have to realize their schools are only valuable to tu to the point they have recruits the horns want.

It never says any of this happened after they told Beebe they put HS games on hold, it just says the coach told the newspaper that on Thursday. This article proves nothing we didn't already know. Crap has not hit the fan, unfortunately.

Being optimistic here:

Do you think the whorns have basically been told by the Aggie Brass that we are SECeding, and so they are just going full steam ahead now?

After all the "we'll wait and see" BS, it would be the only way to really explain this 180.

I was basically responding to the post that says that tu would be able to tell high school coaches that ATM ruined the lhn for high school football. Someone mentioned that ATM will look bad in the eyes of high school coaches once the games are deemed a violation thus hurting our recruiting.

My perspective as a Hs school coach is that the lhn is not helping hs football. I've played 2 games on ESPN and I can tell you its really not that big of a deal even for the players. Mack says that the lhn gives needed exposure to Texas hs football. We don't need any more exposure. Every kid is on YouTube, rivals ranks every kid, 7 on 7 is televised, there are hundreds of camps and combines, kids fly all over the place for select 7 on 7 tourneys, Willie lyles types are everywhere. All of these are distractions to a hs coach. Does Mack really think a hs coach will be upset if the lhn is illegal and is then one less thing s hs coach has to deal with?

There are plenty of more important things a Texas hs coach must worry about. None of us care about the longhorn network. We all realize that if you are on it, you have a good player. It has nothing to do with us as coaches.

Coach- how do your players feel about the possibility of staying home in TX and playing a SEC schedule? Is this as big a draw as we speculate it is to the 15-18 year old crowd?

I wonder if there are any objective coaches. When you said tu, it became clear you had a bias. I'm actually really intrigued to hear other coach's thoughts however.
