I am unsure how this will effect our rivalry game with the sips.

I would rather never play tu again than be stuck in a conference with them where they have put everybody at a permanent systematic disadvantage.

However, it does speak volumes that the commissioner is already saying that the conference games televised on the LHN, and HS games are on hold. A week ago these probably had the green light. They are scared of our leverage, and now are backtracking like crazy to please the discontent campers. Hopefully we don't bite again for this bull**** again.

It'll be entertaining at the least to see how this plays out, especially since Beebe has been forced to try and step into the sips & ESPN's contract and try and dictate what will be shown on ESPN's/sips' network. Is there a scenario in which that can turn out good? If there is, I don't see it. It'll be interesting to watch unfold.

Tell me why its funny. I think it is unsettling. I think that part of the anticipation of football season is who is in the conference you are competing with.

I don't know that answer in 2 years.

Reading this quote, I think they may throw a few extra bucks at the rest of the conference to allow it to happen. A&M and OU are the only schools with any kind of leverage in this situation. Hopefully, we do not back down.

I agree with Bama.

You know ESPN doesn't want the Big 12 telling them what to air on their $300M network. And you know that the LHN is going to fail horribly if all they can show is a couple of football games a season and the tu fluff stuff.

We should still get the hell out of here.

The only way for it not to be detrimental the conference is to turn the LHN into the B12 network.

But that is not going to happen.

No amount of money is worth being a slave.

I honestly can't believe that Texas is so stupid that they didn't think the rest of the conference would have a problem with showing HS games and conference games on LHN. They already know that they're going to get away with this. ESPN would not of given them 300M if they couldn't get away with this.

I'm not a huge SECede supporter, but who wants to deal with this **** anymore?

Read the article very carefully... This is more of the Big 12 covering there ass than anything else..

This is all pending NCAA approval. The problem with that is that the NCAA is very leery of getting into another lawsuit with a member institution over their media rights. I would expect a half-hearted set of restrictions, enough to look like they have tried to do something but have no real tangible restrictions on UT/ESPN, and UT and Bobo will just smile and nod and move on.

I think they could have gotten away with it if they head of cowtv (a tu booster) had not bragged on the radio about how they were going to feature HS games with their recruits from not just Texas but the rest of the country.

They could have pleaded ignorance up until that point.

The NCAA can ignore it but they are running the risk of alienating the rest of the schools. They can't go around poaching big time schools like tOSU, USC, LSU, etc. and then let tu and espn admit to colluding to commit recruiting violations.

Frankly, I think other schools and conferences are starting to take notice and calling in their chips.

Funny how this all had to come out after media outlets wrote stories on how A&M and OU were pissed, and how we are having a BOR meeting. He must be ****ting his pants. Of course, nothing was even mentioned when it was announced that they would televise HS games, and this was what? A couple of weeks ago?

My goodness. Why does it feel like another let down on the horizon.

ESiPN needs high school football on the LHN and it's going to happen.

Can't our people just accept that and make a long term decision instead of going for short term gain?

That is huge. High school games on LHN would have, one, been a huge recruiting advantage, two, violation of NCAA rules.

Your administration should just vote for the SEC and call it a era. If they back down, they have no balls...case close.

Damnit, this is just a delay tactic. Its War 101: When you have the advantage, press it and crush your enemy. When you dont, stall for time. tu is stalling for time.

tonto hit it on the head: they are just awaiting an NCAA adjudication. Which means in 2012 they will be up and showing HS games.

The other 10 or so "made" programs, other than ou, will be fine with the LHN showing HS games as long as they are Texas HS games. The NCAA will pass a rule that a program can broadcast HS games within say 250 miles of their campus. That rule will allow tu to broadcast pretty much everywhere in the state that has any athletes, but not mess with the other "made" programs on a national level. (No, A&M is not a "made" program)

It will suck for ou, but what to ND, tOSU, Mich, PSU, USC, Bama, FL, Tenn care? None of them have to regularly come to TX for recruits.

The ultimatum needs to be convert the LHN into the Big 12 network, and there are no more individual networks, or we walk.

ESPN will just show the HS games on ESPNU and run constant ads for LHN.

They will care because cowtv is not just planning on showing just Texas HS games.

“One other thing, you may see us, I know there’s a kid [unsigned Texas verbal commit] Connor Brewer from Chapparal high school in Arizona. We may try to get on one or two of their games as well so people [Longhorn Network subscribers] can see an incoming quarterback that’ll be part of the scene in Austin.“

Let me reiterate this, Dave Brown is an idiot because he went on the radio and told listeners that espn and tu would collude to commit recruiting violations not just in Texas but across the country.

Trust me once an AD at a big school in another state sees that (and I think some have), they will be fuming.

As many have stated, ESPiN and the horns will continue to push the envelope. It will be incessant because of $300 million reasons ESPN has invested to see the LHN succeed.

It's interesting that ESPiN chose the horns as their darling in the first place. Egregious? Yes. But that choice goes beyond marketing dynamics, it has everything to do with a very strong horn influence inside of ESPiN itself.

No doubt we WILL see back-peddling and meaningless words to placate our leaders. Words are never greater than action! The action, i.e the dollars that ESPiN has invested and their intentions with the LHN is all that our regents need. This deal should have NEVER been permitted and it should not be tolerated by the NCAA.

The proverbial writing is on the wall and the horns along with ESPiN have left our leadership with no other logical choice but to take matters into our own hands and decide what is in the best interest of Aggies everywhere.

Inaction by our leadership at this crucial juncture is Neville Chamberlinesque.

Words, postering and inaction are not leadership.
