Xlggie - in the entertainment world? Yep, at least the most visible. The Pixar and ILM Ags have maybe a bigger impact on the entertainment industry, but nobody knows their name. It's rare that you run across someone who doesn't know who Lyle Lovett is.

If you have never seen Lyle Lovett in concert, do it. Best show I have ever been to, and I can't name one of his songs.

I saw it and I thought it was great. I can not believe Ags attacking Ags. No wonder A&M will never amount to any achievement in sports if Ags keep attacking each other. I am shocked at how stupid some of these statements are. Maybe some think it is funny but IMHO, is very classless. Unbelievable.

Lyle Lovett is not only one of the best songwriters ever, he is a very down-to-earth guy. I ran into him when he was filming The Player, and although he didn't remember me from our days in the now-defunct Basement Coffeehouse, he still took time to speak with a fellow Aggie.

How many Grammy-award winners are going to do that?

I thought it was very well done.

The LSU musician that was featured seemed like a great guy as well - but I had never heard of him.

And I agree with Daryl - no need to attack fellow ags.

I thought it was great, and Lyle Lovett is a fantastic musician and performer, plus a classy guy. Great representative of our university, and I'm proud to have him as a fellow Ag.

I also thought it was great. Gig'em Lyle.

Yea, I enjoyed it as well. Thought it was very well done.

I thought it was fine, didn't really do much for me either way. In a strange way, I felt a little bad for LSU in that the "Rocky Theme" is almost universally known, but just as widely associated with Philadelphia. At least there's something about Lovett that just screams "Texas" to anyone who pays attention for about 2 minutes.

For those of you who thought it was boring, who else could it have been? Even if we went out of the realm of entertainment, the list of notable, recognizable Aggies isn't that long.

Neal Boortz would've been a hoot, but how many people would he have annoyed? Maybe they could pair him up with Roland Martin.

Secretary Gates would've been cool, but not a Former Student (but I think he's a little busy these days).

Lucky for you, Lyle hasn't been considered a "country" act since the late '80s.

The video was cool and made A&M look great. I have not seen another vid that I thought gave us such a good intro to those who may not know what were all about (meaning most outside the South). Lyle is very well known and liked, and there are very few Ags who could top him for this purpose.
And if you didn't like it, your entitled to that, provided you don't cross the line.

It is what it is. Dowe really want to pretend we are some entertainment making society? Engineers, Scientists, etc. We are who we are and I think its valuable.

Lol! When we were discussing another famous ag, I brought up castro & then almost spit jager all over the place.

Lyle's bit was great.

I love Lyle. I mean, he bagged Julia Roberts, looking like that. He became an inspiration to men all over the world. Whats not to like?

The only thing that would have made it better is, if he and Robert Earl would have gotten back together for the video. Now THAT would have been good TV. Those 2 are hysterical together.

Video was great and you don't really get into the music scene much if you don't realize that a 4 time Grammy winner is pretty impressive. And, as someone above stated...next time Lyle comes to your town, go see him! An amazing musician and show, who interacts with the audience and has the greatest dry sense of humor ever.

Lyle was awesome. Another +1 for those who say you have to see him when he comes to your city. Great music and daymmm funny dude. Class all the way.

Eva Longoria went to Texas A&M - Kingsville, not Texas A&M - Corpus Christi.

She may be beautiful, but she doesn't know squat about Texas A&M Univesity.

Lyle is the best. Met him several years ago when my wife was doing PT on him after the bull smashed his leg (uh oh HIPAA violation!) and he couldn't have been a more down to earth or humble guy. And was thoughtful enough to send her a baby gift when our son was born......what "big-timer" is ever cool enough to remember something like that? Class act and a fantastic show if you ever get to see it. The Bonfire show at Reed was one of the best things I've ever attended. Loved the Cotton Bowl intro.

I also loved the Cotton Bowl intro. Lyle has a strong fan base around the country and is a great representative.

Howlin' Possum, I also knew Lyle from the Basement Committee days. Good times.

I thought Lyle Lovett did a great job on the video. Before anyone criticizes his selection for the Cotton Bowl piece, you should learn more about him and you owe it to yourself to see one of his shows -- they're great.

Plus Lyle does an awful lot for our university. I believe it was just last semester that he (and his large band) peformed a benefit concert at Rudder that raised a ton of money for the 12th Man Foundation. Lyle personally footed all costs for he and his band to perform. He's really a good guy.

anyone know what his political affiliation is? Not that it affects the quality of his music or anything I've just always been curious. I know other singers like Robert Keen are pretty liberal.

Lyle keeps his politics to himself and likes it that way. Considering the industry in which he practices his craft, that silence in and of itself should tell you something.

Missed it as I was watching at a bar, but I just watched the replay. Very cool.

Never seen him live, but per the comments on this board, I'll plan on it going forward.
