Captain if you are correct, then A&M can go back to Perry and all the other legislators and say that the Big XII - who may I remind you - is made up of 10 schools in the future - choose not to honor their commitment to A&M. If that is the case, then A&M has ever right to bolt. If the leadership at A&M decides not to, then you can complain.

You act like the Big XII is a governmental agency. The Big XII was 12 schools -soon to be 10 schools. The very schools that we saved probably aren't stupid enough to renig on the deal.

A&M should reposition the $20MIL and say that if tu and OU don't want their $20MIL, that they can give A&M their funds to make up the difference. Let's put the ball back in their court if they are playing like they are high and mighty and don't need the funds.

Based on their TV appearances they will get their guaranteed $20 Mil, so they aren't giving crap up. They are just posturing. It's time we posture back. I for one like the fact that Loftin responded the way he did and how quickly he did.

I hope that's the strategy behind Loftin's actions, but it's a gamble. Loftin better be sure he's got an offer from the SEC still on the table when the time comes to bolt.

I take everything Zwerneman writes with a gain of salt, but here is the funny one:

quote:
The league’s pledge is oral, and the A&M official said the school’s lawyers are working to get the commitment in writing.

If this "commitment" was so crucial, why are the lawyers suddenly waking up and thinking, gee, we should have got that $20 mill in writings. Must be the same set of lawyers that negotiated Sherman's buyout clause. Lots of posturing going on, but more smoke than fire I think. If there really was a viable Plan B, then it'd be a different ballgame.

Why? Because we took that sack of **** otherwise known as Dan Beebe at his word. Now he is publicly reneging on what he promised.

MW_111

He publicly backed away from the little 5 thing the week that the conference reformed. This is nothing new.

I'd have to agree with Roll, SEC won't take us unless the other conferences are expanding as well. Granted the Big 12 would crumble if we left, there isn't a door for us to leave through at the moment. We are either
A) going to get the $20 mil somehow, and be portrayed as the bad guys for doings so
B) give up the guaranteed $ and keep being poors/continue trying to live to some higher standard even though we are broke and need the money we were supposedly guaranteed

Probably B.

Don't get mad at me but, in my opinion, you guys are stuck where you are and Beebee knows it. Since things have settled down I don't think the SEC wants to expand until another conference makes a move. I really believe the door was open for you but now......I'm not so sure.

I tend to agree... I think the SEC ship has sailed for now, we have nowhere to go.

We were holding a straight flush and we folded.

Well if the SEC offer is long gone, a lot of people in the A&M Administration don't know what they are talking about.

Trust me if this is Beebe's tactic it will backfire. This is something that will unite A&M from the bottom right up to the top. Being lied to and shamed like this is the absolute worst course Beebe could have taken. He has proven himself again to be the idiot we all knew he was.

And MW what Beebe said here: "You've heard a couple of institutions say that's a kind, generous, thoughtful offer, but it's not something we're going to take advantage of," Beebe said. "The board hasn't treated that offer, hasn't been finalized. It's something that's been a good-faith offer that was in the course of a very heated, difficult and scary time for some of the institutions about what was going to remain for them if we didn't continue."

Is something we have never heard before. He has said that OU and TU didnt want the money before but this is the first time he has back pedalled personally. Oh it was a heated, scary time, I didnt really mean it A&M, sorry! Now I will shame you into not taking the money.

To that, I will reply with two words: Alexander Kemos.

Unfortunately, the previous A&M Administration - Gates,et al, had already hired Kemos' company as a consultant long before Loftin arrived.

Loftin was named President in late May or June 2010.

For those saying the SEC won't expand until the other conferences do you are missing the point. The PAC 10 and Big10 already have begun expansion.

Maybe, maybe not, but I don't think it matters.

UT, combined with TTU and BU, has enough political leverage to keep TAMU from acting unilaterally. Likewise, TAMU, combined with TTU and BU, has the same amount of leverage to keep UT from acting unilaterally.

Offer or not, the only way TAMU leaves for the SEC is either with Texas or with their blessings.

Consider this unlikely event: UT and OU decided to go to the SEC as a package deal and TAMU was not included. Don't you think A&M has the political leverage to stop UT from leaving alone? I do.

You are not deterred from dishonest behavior unless you are caught and must face serious consequences. Beebe has been skating free, and continues to spew his BS. Intelligent people should have fully awakened to his act by now.

Something to consider.... Its better for the weaker schools to make less money than not make any at all, and thats basically what would happen for the guys who would be left behind. SO if A&M requests the money I'm sure the Baylors and KSU's will gladly give up their share... Right?

How long do you want to ignore this user?
we damn well better take every cent it takes us to get to $20 million. Loftin should make it an official position that we will be getting the money regardless if it comes from the other five schools. If tu and ou feel bad about the situation they can give the small schools some of theirs.

I think the SEC won't be out campaigning to add teams but I doubt that they will completely lock out the Aggies should they come to call. Remember out of all the schools involved in realignment A&M, for better or worse, kept the behind doors meetings secret. UT and OU have both disclosed large portions of what was suppose to be "classified" info and disinformation. Slive may hear from A&M but unless there is some sort of spy I doubt we will hear anything about it till things explode.

Talked to a good Buckeye buddy of mine last night. For full disclosure, he's down talked to me about The Ags during this whole process and said Texas is the true prize. He called last night and said no amount of money would be worth the bull$&!? That goes with having Texas in your conference.

This isn't Beebe, it's definitely the horns, and they've pulled along OU who wants to be buddy buddy with Texas to feel validated as a university. I'm tired of this crap, and this is why we must leave without the horns. It's time to get out.

WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG

The SEC would kill themselves to have a team/presence in the state of Texas. How many Tier 1, AAU universities with SEC caliber stadiums are in the state of Texas? 2......and the sips will never go to the SEC.

We are the only option. There is no other choice. We are the SEC's dream addition. We can call them 15 minutes from now, tomorrow, next month, next year or in 5 years and ask for an offer and we'll have it faxed over before they hang up the phone.

Dude....really....if the SEC really WANTED you to be in the SEC, then you would be in the SEC......While the market would be nice, the SEC and its members are doing just fine without your overblown egotistical view that the SEC "would kill themselves" to have a team in Texas....

The more I read your drivel, the more I realize it is just that....drivel......

How many times do you folks think the SEC is going to offer to bail you out? How many times are they going to let you burn that bridge? Now, granted, if aTm leaves the Big12, then that is going to open up the conference realignment discussions up again.......and the ONLY chance that aTm has in getting into the SEC is that the B12 folds completely, and the PacWhatever becomes the Pac16.....or the Big10 becomes the Big16......Those are the only ways that the SEC would even consider aTm again....

So you're saying the SEC office has a big maroon Texas A&M button on their fax machine?

I agree, I think the SEC will extend an offer immediately upon a request from the Ags. I'm not absolutely convinced this is going to happen now but it sure looks promising. I like that Loftin has made his position known and intends to hold the Bevo Conference to its offer.

I would really like to know the true situation. About the only thing we can bank on is that t.u. is trying to run everything.

No one knows what kind of agreement or lack of there of A&M and the SEC have. No one.

The only thing we know for sure is that there was an offer at one time and that both parties parted on amiable terms, as that has been reported from somewhat reliable sources.

I say **** it. Leave and if the the SEC works out great if not hello CUSA. At least CUSA games are on TV.

Really? That doesn't jibe with these 2 facts.
#1 The SEC offered
#2 We are still in the Big12-2

Like it or not, the state of Texas is the big media market prize in college football. Our alumni would secure the Houston & Dallas TV markets and this is an exponentially greater addition of TV eyeballs than any other new SEC program could deliver. When the expansion frenzy was at its height not long ago, your commissioner only visited one school.....ours. This has nothing to do with ego and everything to do with facts. I'm sorry that hurts your feelings. Prayers sent.
BennyBlancoFromTheBright
How long do you want to ignore this user?
It's sad when most of the visiting team's fanbase are represented by idiots that think they KNOW what is going on for some other school.

But of course, that is exactly the type of person that visits other school's websites - the kind that likes to hear himself talk but nobody that personally knows him wants to indulge in listening.
