Just a modest proposal . . . . This took some research into other schools’ alma maters. Add your thoughts & ideas too!

Here’s the current “Texas Aggie War Hymn” that everyone sings (the words in bold could possibly be changed due to t.u. references & rhyming issues)

Goodbye to texas university,
So long to the orange and the white.

Good luck to the dear old Texas Aggies,
They are the boys who show the real old fight.
“The eyes of Texas are upon you . . . ,”

well since we are still going to play tu, I say we leave it alone. hell the student body cant sing it, or the Spirit, right as it is. changing it every week would just confuse them.

and do you sing AMC or AMU during the Spirit?
rather be fishing

These threads are retarded.

Georgia Tech's fight song references Georgia, and they haven't been in the same conference for over 40 years.

What makes you think A&M and UT will continue to play if they go different ways? Texas has no need to if OU is going with them to the Pac 10.

Why on earth does anything about our traditions change simply because we join another conference? We didn't change the War Hymn when the SWC added U of H, we didn't change the War Hymn when we formed the Big 12, why would we change it now?

We didn't change the War Hymn when the horns were no longer known as "varsity" either...

Col. Reb,
I know. Just had to make the syllables work.

I guess the point is: these options aren't great, but the first verse sucks too. Just trying to think outside the box.

Give you an A for effort.

But that...that's just too much.
Cheer
How long do you want to ignore this user?
heeeelllll no. reminds me of high school varsity cheerleading when we had to make up a new cheer for every damn possible situation in every damn game. new cheers each week for different opponents too.

I finished cheerleading my freshman year of college. no need to bring it up again. thanks.

Let's start singing the first verse:

All hail to dear Texas A&M
Rally around maroon and white....

That verse focuses on Texas A&M

It seems to me that the lyrics still fit. Goodbye to texas university....

Wouldn't it make more sense just to keep things as it is. Then the war hymn would be pretty accurate to what could happen if we go to the SEC. I mean then we would really be saying so long Texas nice knowing ya, hope that this move blunts your sports program by increasing our recruiting.
