Jason, thanks for your input. Personally, throughout your career, I always thought that you were a player that always played to your capabilities and had the "Wrecking Crew" mentality that made A&M's defense so successful in this era. You had a VERY solid career and I am pleased that former players like yourself are taking an active interest in the success of the program. Thank you for this.

I do have a few questions for you, as well.

1. Do you think that Deruyter & Dat can instill the Wrecking Crew mentality with this group of players?
2. What other current players besides Williams, Hunter & Patterson do you see as having or developing the WC mentality?
3. How much improvement do you think that we can expect out of the D this season?
4. How many wins to you expect from this team in 2010?

i'm not worried about von. he's a seasoned senior and knows what it takes to prepare for a long season. that includes how fast & hard to go during a scrimmage in april. he'll turn it on in the fall.

That was a great write-up, but I didn't see anything about Charlie Thomas. I thought Toth and Sherman were feeling pretty good about this kid.

I believe you are a fellow ME, correct? You were apart of some stout teams back in the day. For those too young to know/remember, JA was a baller along with TL. To see the field at that time, you had to be. Nice write up.

Yes. We have a core group has it and they are in a strong leadership position.

2. What other current players besides Williams, Hunter & Patterson do you see as having or developing the WC mentality?

I did not mention Mangum because he was not out there, but he was the first one I saw with it last spring. He was flying around lighting people up. I told him "I know you probably feel like the little blond-haired girl in the Munster Family, but do not try to fit in with the older guys. Keep playing at that level." Lionel Smith and Stephen Terrell also bring it.

3. How much improvement do you think that we can expect out of the D this season?

Significant. Simply because the 50 defense is better suited to play against speed offenses.

4. How many wins to you expect from this team in 2010?

I am not going to go there. Sherman is one of the best coaches in the game, but wins can be decided by 18 year olds catching a single pass or missing a single field goal.
