I didn't come to school here for the traditions and I obviously didn't come for the great football program. I came to college to get an education. It's a crazy idea, I know. I came to the best engineering school in this part of the country.

I love A&M. I love the way Aggies (usually) treat other Aggies. But one thing that has really bothered me is the residual attitude from the all corps days of telling each other what to do and how to behave and what to think. We completely suppress any kind of individuality or difference in thinking. That's great if you're trying to build an army, but it's complete bull**** to try to force your way of thinking on the general population. This "we've always done it this way, we always will do it this way, if you even consider doing anything else you need to get the hell out of here" line of thinking has no place at a major university. We need to be more tolerant and more respectful to each other.

If you make them wear the same uniforms the guys do, I can promise a rise in attendance at the Fish Pond victory yell

It is obvious to this former Corps member that the general student population that currently resides at TAMU is worthless. They all want to change what is going on, but won't act to do it. You want Female yell leaders, vote for them. The Corp is going to block vote as they always have for their chosen candidates. If the non-regs want to make a change then get together and make a change, there are a hell of a lot more non-regs than Corps members. make it happen. Oh wait, that would mean all those GDIs and Greeks would have to work together to make the university better. Yeah things will change when the student body decides to work together and not until that time. This does not mean everyone has to think alike but it does mean cooperation.
For the dip**** that chose to come here for the education and not the football program or the traditions, great you made an excellent decision, but since you are not here for the other aspects of this great university shut the hell up about any of the traditions etc. They don't concern you, you just want an education by your own words.

I've said for years that the non-regs need to get 2-3 girls to run and then get people to vote for them.

Students dont have to vote for the dance team do they? Hire someone in the athletic dept to handle this and let people try out.

No doubt that any woman could run for Yell Leader. Has it ever happened before?

If it does happen there is no reason to give her a different uniform. The same uni would work just fine. Maybe a few alterations in the chest area, depending.

I was a Yell Leader. I would have no problem supporting anyone, regardless of their gender, who was elected Yell Leader.

I love old army traditions, but DAMN I like that new female yell leader in the pink shoes. NICE.

Put them in overall short...bra-less or something.

Now, with all this old army vs new army...everyone needs to get on the traditional side of the house as the youngins don't realize how much their "prime" seat are subsidized by us old Ags (just as when we were there, our prime seats were subsidized).

If everyone keeps moaning about getting rid of old traditions, I promise, this is one $bill would like to change quickly (i.e., stick the students down in the corners of the stadium or endzone like most other universities do and charge for those prime seats on East side...it's killing him that he can't right now). This tradition shouldn't change, but if will be on the docket one of these days I bet.

By the way, don't state the counter argument of that "it's a bad product on the field anyways, who cares"...as that's BS and we all know it.

Of course us "old timers" like "looking at girls" -- but we don't (most of us anyway) want to see "change" for change's sake just to be like "the other universities"...
Why not keep the Yell Leaders, but get a "sounding board" cheering section ala BB, etc... Nothing wrong with having more than one set of "support" activities and Yell Leaders, Band, and a "Cheering Squad" of some sort could work really well - IF the dammed megatron would give them room that is... Oh well, since we have gone digital it was a good idea anyway... What we need is more rapper music to appease the majority of the athletes... Now there's a topic for consideration... Maybe a "Rapper" Cheer Squad - just for them...
