Why would anyone jump to the conclusion that someone wearing a Texas shirt was EVER a student? The odds are not in favor of that.

I saw that the other day. It's funny.

BUT, I would like to see what school is trying to steal Bevo because it's coming across as "we're Texas and we're so cool people want to steal our mascot" (I.E. Typical longhorn lovefest by espn.)

the taco meat commercial is by far the funniest but I thought this was worth the effort.

i think the concept of stealing a rivals mascot is pretty funny and then trying to play it off like you are not doing anything when/if you get caught.

ESPN has fallen a long way from the commercials they had in the late 90's early 00's. It's as if they have different people trying to emulate the style of those videos who don't have nearly as good of a sense of humor.

If anyone really wants to know about stealing Bevo... Go chat up some Ags that were around in the Fall of 1963. Lets just say a couple of Ags almost went to jail for theft of state property and cattle rustling cause when they took the Texas Rangers to where they'd hidden him someone else had restolen him.

Oh and even if your good friend is dating a silver spur and knows what pasture/whatever he's being kept in.
1) Don't rent an open top U-Haul for the job
2) If you rent a trailer, don't use your real name
3) Don't use your Oldsmobile (or other sedan) to pull said trailer

Failure to follow the previous 3 pieces of advice, even if you pull the heist in the middle of the night, will leave a sufficient trail of witnesses that you will get caught. It is afterall a 90 mile drive back to CS once you've got the critter trailered...

Best story I have heard was from one of the last times we stole 13-0, er Bevo. Please be aware that it may be completely bs as a lot of these stories get better as the years go on. But the way I heard it, the Ags had just procured the bovine and were in a mad dash to get back to B/CS when en route they were pulled over by a DPS Officer. The officer first went to the back to inspect the cargo. Then made his way to the vehicle driver's side and looked at the Ags for a moment. Just when those poor guys thought they were about to be taken in, the office flashed his big gold Aggie ring and stated "You boys drive carefully back to College Station." The officer got back in his car and left.

Whoop!


Again maybe just a story, but that would make an even better commercial....

One of the zips in my outfit made a trip to Austin in the fall of his sophomore yr. He and the others with him thought it would be a good idea to cut down a few trees from the tu campus to add to bonfire stack that year. Needless to say they got caught by campus police, but not before 3-4 trees were taken down. He still has a restraining order against him to this day that prevents him from setting foot on the tu campus other than for an athletic event. I'm c/o 01 so this all went down sometime around 94-96
