I love Shiner Bock (the perfect medium for ring dunking) and some of their other beers so I bought some of the Smokehaus this weekend. The bottle said "The Perfect Sommer Bier". Very compelling argument. Had to buy it.

Verdict. I think it tastes like someone put out a cigarette in your beer when you weren't looking. FWIW I still drank it.

I dunked mine in shiner. For a guy that doesn't drink too much and did absolutely zero practice chugging a pitcher, I didn't think 29 seconds was half-bad.

I think the shiner 100 was an abomination. That is all.

NY A&M Club is trying to figure out a way to have it at our game watches this fall. Overlook would be cool with it; it's just getting it here physically that is the problem

My brother will be moving up to NYC in July. If you would help him pay for a slightly larger UHaul I am sure he would be happy to help.

Does anyone else miss the Shiner 98? I took 2 cases back to SD with me after the New Year in 99, and ever since I drank the last one I've been craving more.

+1

and they figured out how to have Shiner at the DC Aggies game watching. Maybe NYC will catch up one of these days

A guy who grew up in Yoakum here. . .

Used to go to the Shiner Brewery all the time with my dad - back when the beer was free, all you had to do was walk in! Then we'd usually head over to the 10th Inning (they'd have more beer and my brother and I'd have a Big Red).

Also been to many Polka fests at the Sweet Home Community Center. . .nice and relaxing (I can almost hear the 'Shiner Polka' or 'Moon over Moravia' playing now. . ).

Lastly, one of the best resturants in the area used to be Patek's between Shiner and Halletsville. . .oh the memories...

I remember Patek's, still think Janak's smoked sausage is the best. Born in Shiner, grew up in Yoakum.

Lived in Kentucky for years and could never get Shiner Bock up there. In-laws always toted a case or two north. Needless to say, I did not share it with the Yankees.

Unfortunately, missed out on all of the early Bocktoberfests. Still buy a Bock as my main beer. Like to support the little guy, and Shiner is a great town with great people.

Shiner Bock is great.

The beer called Shiner Blonde tastes suspiciously like the cheap, cheap regular Shiner that we drank back in the '70s. Shiner and Pearl were the cheapest beers that we could get.

Shiner Blonde today is the same recipe as what regular Shiner was way back when (also known as Shiner Premium).

To paraphrase the great Robert Earl Keen, man, I haven't had a Shiner Premium since elementary school ...

My grandma was a Patek, my grandfather a Holub.

My grandma used to tell a story about how her older sisters used to stitch and press leather saddles and belts for circle Y in Yoakum.

I used to have a "shiner premium" t-shirt.

I think some of my first beer in my early teens came out of a plastic bucket in a dancehall at a family reunion, and most likely it was shiner premium.

My cousin ran into Quentin Tarantino in Austin about a year back, and what was he drinkin'? An ice cold Shiner Bock. Word on the street that's all he drinks when he is here in Texas.

"Christ almighty, it's like I'm sittin' here playing cards with my brother's kids or somethin'… you nerve-wracking sons-of-*******."

Y'all are killin' me. What I wouldn't give for a Shiner Bock right now. I guess I'll just have to crack open another Steinlager Pure.

They have been stocking our local Publix with Shiner Bock (3 6-packs max) for the past couple years and it is my official game day beer. I do enjoy it more than the Shiner beers of the past (as mentioned above, when it was cheap!). I usually buy all three 6-packs if they are there...apparently there is another SB aficionado in SW FL, but my desire to have it all has not yet pushed me to stake-out the beer aisle to find out who it is. When would I have time to drink?

My VONs in Burbank used to stock 4 six-packs of Shiner Bock. The problem was that there were a number of t-sippers living in my apartment complex. So, likewise, if I saw Shiner Bock on the shelf, I'd buy it. Eventually they figured out that there was some demand for it and they started stocking more.

That's the most ignorant statement I have seen on texags this year.

quote:
If you want a good Texas beer, support Texas craft breweries.

Why do Texas "craft" breweries deserve any more of my business than a Texas brewer? Shiner has created many jobs in Texas and there are a lot of people that are thankful that Shiner has been such a success for the state.

He directed Death Proof in Austin and in several scenes.. especially in the bar where Stuntman Mike makes his first appearance.. they are drinking Shiner.

The best location has to be Hallettsville: Halfway between Sweet Home and Sublime!!

Used to be a helluva location . . . 14 miles from Shiner and also 34 miles south of LaGrange.
